southsideirish71
They put up Ozuna/Harris/Widger/Timo and says we have no bench and we wont go anywhere without a good bench. Its Jon Kruk and all. But the Timo part is dead on.

Jabroni
Yep, I heard it. Gammons thinks Lugo would be great for us because of his ability to play SS, 2B, and some OF. He said we have good pitching prospects in the minors which is what the Devil Rays would want. He also said that he didn't think Lugo would cost anything like a Brandon McCarthy. Gene Honda Civic
I really like Lugo, but I don't think we're looking at him at all. I don't think our bench is that bad. Sure timo sucks. Willie's only good for his defense and eye. Ozuna has no power. Widger, I don't know how you can complain about him. He's a back-up catcher who's hitting better than most regulars. The glaring weakness is a righty power bat. (I say that becuase I consider Carl to be part of the bench, and Frank part of the line-up) That won't be something to worry about come playoff time. Timo will be gone. Brian Anderson will be on the roster. (assuming he's not in another city at that point)

Rowand44
Lets see Widge is batting over .300, Willie and Ozuna have been doing exactly what they have to do minus willie's bad last week and conveniantly they left Everett off the list. Don't get me wrong Lugo's a solid player and I wouldn't mind him at all but I actually like our bench.

We need a line drive hitter from the right side. Someone who can put the ball in play. Enough of seeing men on late in the game and strikeout after strikeout. Put the ball in play. I know everyone is all jacked with Joe Crede hitting a few dongs this week. But watching him roll over like a dog when a soft tossers locates a 89 mph fastball on the corner is getting sick. IF YOU WANT TO PWN THE SOX LINEUP, TOSS SOMEONE WHO THROWS 91 AND BELOW WHO LOCATES THE FASTBALL ON THE OUTER HALF AND CAN TOSS A CURVE FOR A STRIKE. Timo puts the ball in play. He still sucks. The player you described was Rowand/Gload. They're not really HR hitters, but they hit the ball hard. I think we're asking for the same thing, just wording it differently. I know everyone is all jacked with Joe Crede hitting a few dongs this week. But watching him roll over like a dog when a soft tossers locates a 89 mph fastball on the corner is getting sick. I'm not jacked at all about Crede. I think Juan is the one to be excited about. He was taking all sorts of pitches over the weekend that he would have flailed away at in the absence of Frank Thomas. But with the Big Hurt in his ear after every AB, he's taking first pitch almost every time now. He also went oppo twice today. He's about to go on a tear. Jabroni
Lugo is definately an Ozzie-type player. He has 15 SB on the season. Trade for Lugo, add a reliever, get Gload back healthy, send Willie to the minors, and dump Timo. That would be nice.

Well that depends, which Arow are we going to see. Arow was quoted as tinkering with is swing so he can pull and elevate more. He now wants to add power to his skill set. His home run total will go up some, but his BA will suffer. He is a line drive hitter and should keep with his strength. If he goes into pulling the ball more and elevating it will be roll out ground outs to the SS and 3rd baseman and lazy popups. Thats what it looked like he was doing tonight. He was swinging hard like crazy trying to lift and elevate. Timo is not a line drive hitter. He dips his bat too much and trys to elevate it for power. He golfs at the ball. sox-r-us
I agree with BBTN, out bench needs to be upgraded. To me the best way to do that though is to get a starting 3b and/or SS and put Crede and/or Uribe on the bench. Simple....

Well after Joe hits the occasional homer, his champions pound their chest and say, see he just raised his ba to 235. He is on a hot streak. Then he rolls the wrists over a few times and puts another corpseball spin on his hitting technique.

You know what is embarassing. They have one Royce Clayton, we have 2. You know what is sad. When you see Tony Clark with great numbers, then we stroll our 8.5 million dollar pull only son 1st baseman out there to roll over his wrists and GIDP.
