knightni
I sense a re-building for some reason. Does Kobe have a no-trade clause?
Chisoxfn
ROLF @ The Lakers I wonder how much he got, my guess is 10-11 mill a year.

Chisoxfn
The greatest part of all of it was, that Phil was waiting for a sign to see whether he should take the job or not Freaking nutjob
Gene Honda Civic
Phil you should have gone to Detroit. Probably won't make the playoffs again next year out there in LA LA land.
greasywheels121
Kobe and Phil won't win another title together.
AirScott
wow, don't you all realize this is the BEST thing to happen to Kobe and the Lakers? Jackson will bring with him the triangle, and although Kobe hates it, now Lamar Odom and the others will be used. they will play more as a team, unlike this past year in which every Lakers offensive possession was made up of five separate games of 1-on-1. plus Kobe is the #1 guy now, so he has lost the inferiority complex and will listen more than he did in 2003-04. AirScott
QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) I guerntee the Lakers dont make the playoffs next year! that may be the worst guaruntee ever, since they were in it until the last few weeks this year with no coach or team concept. but they won't be championship contenders until the 2006-07 season, when they'll have been able to pick up a key player in free agency. EvilJester99
This shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone...Phil is hoping his GF can get him into ownership eventually...it only makes sense. Plus the big cash they were willing to pay him doesn't hurt either...
Jordan4life_2007
We're gonna soon find out how good a coach Phil really is. He's always gone to teams that were on the brink of greatness. That's certainly not the case this time. The Lakers are a complete mess. Way over the cap, little to no trade assets, no pg, no pf, no post presence, way too many sf's, little to no depth. Have fun Phil!

kev211
QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) when they'll have been able to pick up a key player in free agency. Do they even have enough money to get that free agent!

Balta1701
QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 08:30 AM) Do they even have enough money to get that free agent! Not this year. This year they have only small amounts - I think they have an option on Divac, but just about everyone else is signed.. Next year they get Brian Grant's contract off of their heads (and a couple of other people), and he's making nearly as much as Kobe, so that will free up a fair amount of cash. Kobe and Odom are also making a ton. That team was about $20 million over the salary cap last year, so even then, they're not going to have much room.
