dodger ex yankee broadcaster keeps talkin about how the whitesox have that national league look and feel to the team...what is this talk all about? i mean they are just playing baseball the way it is supposed to be played. another bumbling idiot NL announcer! never cared for him in NY and now what a jack. his color is saying that it is better to try to get a hit with a runner on second and no outs than shoot it to the right side and advance the runner...boneheads!

The first half of that statement makes sense to me. Putting a premium on moving runners. Stealing. Hit and run, instead of the American league stereotype, station to station, lumbering wall bangers.

And it's 4-3 Pads. :headbang

He is right. THehe last 10 years, the AL has been more a power hitting league, living on the HR, and for good reason considering the DH. The Sox, especially on paper, have transitioned themselves to be small ball, run and gun NL STYLE team.

No he is not right the AL hasn't lived on the home run! The team who usually wins the world series every year is solid up the middle, plays good defense, and has an exceptional pitching staff with timely hitting and a little luck. The is irrespective of the league they play in..

Thanks to GM kenny williams and the scouts the whitesox have build a solid starting rotation, have improved up the middle, have build a respectable bullpen with equal amount of lefties & righties, have decent speed, still can't bunt that well, have improved the lefties on the bench, move runners over, and can score without getting a hit.

podsednik is on second with one out and frank sends the ball almost to the wall in center field. pods is half way between 2nd & 3rd when the ball is caught. my point as whitesoxmanager in this situation is to be 3 feet off the bag and when the ball is caught tag and go to 3rd. cost us a run after rowands infield hit...

What if the player drops the ball? Then pods cant score no need to argue this it can go anyway.

I have not been here on the game thread, just wondering if anyone has gotten on JD Drew's case for catching the ball one handed? :bang

You can't predict that.

The players make their own decisions in times like that.

The game is too fast at that point to try and micro-manage.

the key here is to at least have a runner on third with 1 out...& why assume he won't score on the dropped ball?

so if he were to even drop the ball or it hits the wall at least pods will be at third and i think that the outfielder would be more likely to throw the ball to try to hold the hitter from either a double or triple.

The Twins just had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th, with nobody out and they did not score. :headbang

Man, do they ever suck with the bases loaded.

I just woke up after passing out after work. Good to see a game like this. This thread is kind of dead, though.
