one thing scares me about grossman..well 2 things actually

1. he's a florida QB

2. 6'1' 215 lbs

someone give me a scouting report on him...how is his arm??..can he make al lthe throws like leftwich can..can he make that 20 yard deep out pass???

to me this still makes no sense...if we wanted a first round QB we should have took leftwich...with this pick i think id have taken one of the t op wr's left...give kordell some targets to throw too

baggs....Grossman's a stud. He's got a good arm, and he does some good things. His last year with Spurrier there, when he had some decent talent around him, he was very, very good. He didn't have a good O-line this year....I know that. Kiper was talking about that constantly.....saying how s***ty the O-line was, and then how he had a new system implimented and all that. When Kordell is done being a Chicago Bear....it will be Grossman's turn.

Anyways....how about the Bills taking McGahee? Holy s***....when he got his knee messed up....I thought he was done. All I can do is hope that he is not done.....because if he is, the Bills are in some deep s***.

I have a hard time understanding why teams insisting on drafting to strengths instead of weaknesses. If the bears and bills wanted these players to draft, why are they signing veterans in the same positions? I mean s*** draft to your weakness.

I have no idea why the Bills are drafting McGahee....I assume because he's too good a talent to let pass by(in comparison....it's kind of like the Sox signing Daubach like they did....too good a talent to let get by for that cheap. We sure as hell didn't need him....but he's a helluva player...so why not?). In the Bears case....they will need a QB for the future. Stewart is not the QB for the future....only the QB for the next 2 years(if that even).

McGahee will probably be playing in 04 or 05. Henry will be gone by then....most likely traded for a draft pick(like Price was).

The Bills may have also not drafted a D-lineman(their main weakness) because of the fact that D-line men have been drafted up the butt in the first 22 selections....and McGahee seemed to be a better pick.

Grossman's arm is pretty damn good, almost as good as Leftwich's. Last year if he would have entered the draft he may have gone as #1, remember that? What changed so much over a year where his stock fell so much? Florida lost a few games? He still had a good year last year all things considered. He lost all his wr's (except jacobs), and more importantly, his coach, steve spurrier. Trying to adapt to Zook had to be a tough changeover. I love Grossman's intangibles. He IS a leader. He's got toughness. Knock em down he jumps back up and says let's do it again. He makes plays. Ron Jaworski was comparing stuff he does to what Favre does. That's not to say he's the next Favre, but you gotta like that talk. I think it's a solid pick and the draft thus far has been great, Haynes is a great pick also.

This next pick is interesting. Could go Bailey, Henderson, Doss, Steinbach, Mathis...

Oakland is up with two now.

thats what scares me with florida QB's...when they leave spurrier , their performance declines bigtime...i dont know what to think about this pick...i still think if we needed a qbwe should have kept our 4th pick and stuck with leftwich..especially since our history of developing QB's is horrible...of course it wil ltake about 5 years to see if this was the right move...

here is a full scouting report on grossman...not sure i like this pick after reading this

Notes: Comes from an affluent family. Has a reputation for not making the greatest decisions off the field. Enrolled in January 1999 to participate in spring drills but used his redshirt year in the fall. Started eight games in 2000 and completed 131-of-212 passes for 1,866 yards with 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Finished second in the Heisman Trophy balloting as a sophomore in '01, when he was named Associated Press Player of the Year and first-team All-Southeastern Conference. Started all 11 games and completed 259-395-3,896-34-12. In '02, completed 287-502-3,402-22-17.

Positives: Has a quick release and an over-the-top delivery. Has handled pressure situations well in the past. Has a good -- not great -- arm and throws an extremely catchable ball, especially deep. His mechanics -- especially setup and compact release -- are assets. Seems to be aware in the pocket and buys time with his feet. Has football intelligence and the toughness of a pit bull. Also has good mental toughness. Likes to lift with the linemen. Teammates love his self-confidence and bring-it-on attitude. Can get the ball into tight spots because of his intermediate arm strength. Has a burning desire to win.

Negatives: Can be lazy and rubs people the wrong way at times because of his confidence. Likes to party. Got by on natural talent at Florida. When things didn't go well in '02, Grossman was out of sync a lot and made too many off-balance throws. Can escape pressure but is not a threat to tuck and run. Has average overall mechanics. Accuracy down the field is limited, as it is when he throws on the move. Will need to be schooled on what the "football classroom" means. Struggles in new offense weren't entirely related to fresh scheme and changes in his surroundings, but teams will critique his ineffectiveness without Steve Spurrier and the wealth of talent that left for the NFL in 2002. Didn't display great accuracy at his Scouting Combine workout.

Summary: Another year at Florida probably would not have hurt Grossman, but he figures to be drafted on the first day

Rex Grossman lost his bowl game, now didn't he. He looked bad in much of that game as he did much of the season. Since you all have Kordell Stewart to be lead qb for a few years, Grossman might grow up. He should have stayed at Florida one more year, he is not ready and his bowl game play proved it - as did his game against FSU. As it is, I am not sure he is the team player type - he was very concerned about his season, not Florida's. He is not a Ryan Leaf, but you may remember a recent qb from UCLA - this may be the part 2 of that. The fact that he doesn't have to start for a few years, maybe he will grow up. Good luck to you all.

But in case anyone wants to remember who Rex Grossman lost the bowl game to, to see what a winner of a bowl game with Grossman in the game looks like, please check my signature.

You said "cade mcnown" - I didn't.

I don't the individual players in sports as closely as some people do but I do study everyone that we (UM) play and I what I said about Grossman is what I picked up this last season.

The bowl game announcers - who wanted to hype him over the entire UM team and were pissed off that Michgan won :headbang - spent most of the game talking about his disappointing season play. I noticed that he did not improve from 2001 to 2002, in fact, he regressed. The bowl game announcers were also saying how he needed one more year. Some famous Florida alums now in the NFL were on the sidelines saying the same thing. That he left because of why he did is a matter of concern, if I were a Bears fan, which I really am not.

But what the f***. My team the Dolphs didn't have a pick until the 49th one and what are they going to do with their coach anyway. And the pro team in Detroit - and I have become a huge Harrington fan but not a Lions fan, that just is not possible - drafted the biggest personality reject since the Vikings did a few years ago, and both recievers too - the Lions will regret the day they bowed to local pressure and drafted Carl (It is all about me) Rogers.

Grossman may turn out alright since he doesn't have to be savior, which he is not equipped right now to do. But his lack of improvement from season to season and his poor play in two of his biggest games last season (or maybe it was just the Michigan defense was so damned good! But they were!) and why he left Florida now has Cade McKnown written it from where I sit. For your sake I hope I am wrong. But you sensed it too - it sure sounded to em like the Bears settled for qb this year instead of getting someone good.

I watched the Florida-FSU game and I would not argue with you at all, not at all. I thought it was hype that got him 2nd in the 2001 Heisman (and no real winner out there, so someone had to be in the top 5). And he did not strike fear in me at all for the bowl game. Considering who Florida had passing on their last offensive play (and it sure wasn't Grossman), wonder what confidence they had in Grossman

Your other question I cannot say for sure. I thought it was Michael Haynes which I really enjoyed when Murc told me he was drafted (but I didn't tell Murc why I was laughing because he is a Bears fan and didn't want to f*** his day) - but before I answered I cross checked on the PSU website 2002 PSDU roster

and they show 81 being Isaac someone, a TE, and don't list Haynes at all.???????? However, check the link for the 2001 roster and it shows Haynes at 81.

I was positive it was Haynes. There was a reason that I selected that photo of Navarre. But looking at the roster, I will not say that it is with 100% certainty. Besides I don't need all these bears fans spitting at my signature just cause Haynes is getting blocked out. He is a good player and I think he will do well on the Bears. Hell, I hope he is rookie of the year and goers to every all star game in his career! Don't matter to me - he never beat Michigan and that is what counts in my world. Same goes for Grossman. I wish him all good things, now that hje lost to us.

However I detest Kordell Stewart and am glad a lot of you are too young to rememeber why.
