isn't AJ calling the game?

I suspect he is but something is missing. I don't know if it's the game calling or Contreras doing his own thing, or Contreras just missing on location. But he throws way way way too many split finger pitches.

Contreras doesn't always listen. He wouldn't listen at all when we traded for him last year. This year is seems like they got into his head to only use the splitter as an out pitch. But the last 3-4 starts he has been overusing it and it has not had the same bite on it.

Ok, maybe a momentum turner there. At least I hope so. Damn, giving Maddux a 4 run lead is not the right way to go.

Anyways ... get after 'em.

From my point of view, Contreras has a very hittable fastball. His command is quite poor on the fastball, so it's hard for AJP to expect him to be able to throw it past a hitter up in the zone. Contreras's strikeout pitch is definitely his forkball.

Totally agree. He loves that split finger pitch, and it seems he's screwed up on the release point. You have got to attack hitters, quit this damned nibbling around stuff.

The only time he really goes after a hitter is when the bases are loaded. They sit on his fastball and then we have a problem.

Sometimes a pitcher will get beat, but don't beat yourself. He seems to do it a lot.

WAY BACK!!! And it's a 4-1 ballgame.

This tight strikezone seems to be helping us vs. Maddux.

The strike zone is tighter than Alizee's ass would you say?

Sorry, just had to do it. :P
