OilCan
Clinton King's stats through today (July 22 - Friday) 70 G 257 AB 59 H 12 2bs 2 3bs 4 HRs (OUCH!!!) .230 BA (Double OUCH!!!) .324 OBP .339 SLG 32/60 W/Ks 34/35 R/RBIs It's tough to stomach this. Clint King's writeup, at draft time from MLB.Com, was the following: COMMENT: Strong, durable body. Build similar to Brad Fullmer. Slightly crouched stance. Strength in swing for future average power. Ball jumps off bat, power to opposite field. Powerful strides. Pop in bat. His career stats are attached for your viewing pleasure (Credit to The Baseball Cube.Com for his up-to-date stats). So...lightning in a bottle thanks to just one great college year? Potential unrealized? Underachiever?? Or, classic late bloomer??? Time will tell. The bad news for King is that other OFs have been drafted (Anderson, Sweeney, Young, Cunningham) that have more potential/upside than King, and that King has been really stuggling to get his average past .250, let alone hit for power, something he did very well in college. If King continues to struggle, look for the Sox to not wait for him. IMO, he has until 2006 or 2007 to get past AA until the Sox may cut him loose. He doesn't have the luxury of the aluminum bat any more. Whether he overcomes this remains to be seen.
OilCan
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) He doesn't have the luxury of the aluminum bat any more. Whether he overcomes this remains to be seen. For now, it doesn't look like he's adjusted yet. He's in a 1-9 tailspin since my last update.
