GASHWOUND
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) This has nothing to do with you, Gashwound, but I have to say this. Around here, it's one extreme or the other. Either every pitcher that does well against us "had a good game" or "our offense sucked ass." I find it hard to believe either way. It's weird to think that our offense could suck so frequently, but it's also weird to think that a lot of pitchers seem to have a career-best performances against us. The last month or so our offensive has improved..we've average prob close to 5 runs a game...the last 3 games we've faced Maddux, Prior, and Robertson who came in with a decent 3/1/2 ERA... But around here it is one extrme or the other...Hermy has a couple bad games we need a new closer, or someone is slumping we need to make trades and such.. Why is it a bad thing to take things in perpective and not jump to "one extrme or the other" or to be jabroniesque as i like to call it.. Wolverine31
This game just illustrates how lucky the White Sox have been this year. You have well over 20 one run wins this year. You are bound to come tumbling back to Earth next season because you are not as good as your record indicates, not by a long shot. That lead off triple scores most of the time, but the White Sox lucked out again. Plus, I think it's highly likely your pitchers are having career years rather than having established a new level of performance. This game just stunk. That shot in the 9th should have been out. The sick thing is that as a Tigers fan, I knew after it stayed in Comerica Canyon, that we wouldn't score. That's how little faith I have for hackers like Dmitri Young and Craig Monroe to even hit a sac fly in the clutch. It seems like these guys choke the big one and try for home runs rather than do the small things that win games. It seems like we find a way to lose lately, like the botched double play in Arizona that cost us to lose a game where we gave up no earned runs. BTW, Ordonez is rehabbing in Toledo and is supposed to be back at the end of the week. We will see if it actually was the knee that was bothering him. Hope he can produce. Good not lucky pitchers get out of man on 3rd no out jams. That's the dumbest f***ing thing I've ever heard. Hermanson was pure luck I suppose? Wow.... GOOD teams win one run games, s***ty teams lose them. It's really f***ing simple. Jabroni
What's more important, AVG or runs scored? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Runs scored but you still can't be happy with our team AVG and team OBP. Do you think we will remain this clutch at scoring runs in key situations all season long and even in the playoffs against stud pitchers? Just look at what we did against Prior and Maddux. Those are the kinds of pitchers we will see in the playoffs. Well, not Prior and Maddux but pitchers of their quality. ptatc
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) 10th in runs scored is actually good considering their low team AVG and OBP. true, but the goal of the offense is to score runs. It doesn't matter how. We need to find some way to increase it. Of course we outscored the Twins the last few years and lost the division, maybe the run differential could show something. Balta1701
QUOTE(ptatc @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) This is cause for some concern. I think to win it all, which is the goal, we do need to pick that up a bit. We picked up a bat a couple weeks ago...He wears #35, and his impact on the lineup is only beginning to be felt. When the Astros picked up Beltran last year, they didn't immediately go on a winning streak & take the division, in fact they fell further back, but then a few things clicked, the offense adapted, and you know the rest. Rowand44
I'm going to say this about Roberston I don't care if he doesn't live up to some of your qualifications for a great starting pitcher but he was awesome tonight. He was hitting corners all night, the ump was giving him the inside corner to righties and he was starting that 2 seamer at them and just froze 'em. His performance was outstanding tonight and no offense would have hit him, he was just that good on this night.
