Who will make it for the other teams, in your opinion? A's - Blue Jays - Devil Rays - Indians - Royals - Tigers - Twins - White Sox - Also, will there be more Rangers, Red Sox, Yankees, Angels, Mariners? Kalapse
A's - ?Justin Duchscherer/Huston Street/Eric Chavez/Barry Zito? Blue Jays - Vernon Wells/Miguel Batista/Shea Hillendbrand/Roy Halladay Devil Rays - Jorge Cantu/Carl Crawford Indians - Grady Sizemore/Travis Hafner/Bob Wickman Royals - Emil Brown/Mike Sweeney Tigers - Ivan Rodriguez/Jeromy Bonderman/Brandon Inge Twins - Johan Santana/Torii Hunter/Jesse Crain White Sox - Mark Buehrle/Jon Garland/Paul Konerko/Freddy Garcia/Cliff Politte/Dustin Hermanson/Scott Podsednik _______________________ |Red = Lock |Blue = Best chance on team --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oakland - I have no idea who could possibly be the A's All-Star. I'm gonna say one of thier bullpen guys Huston Street being the favorite over Justin Duchscherer and Chavez having a shot a long with Zito if one of the relievers is not taken. OAKLAND SHOULD NOT HAVE AN AS THIS YEAR Toronto - Roy Halladay is an easy lock for the AS game, he should end up starting it based on his first half production of course a guy like Mark Buehrle is just as deserving and could get the knod seeing how he's on the best team in baseball. Other dark horses are: Miguel Batista, Vernon Wells and Shea Hillenbrand. Tampa Bay - The D-Rays will send Cantu, he is the most deserving by far. Crawford has a chance if they snub Cantu. Cleveland - Grady Sizemore and Hafner have a chance of going but only one of them. With Wickman IMO staying home. Kansas City - One of Mike Sweeney and Emil Brown will go. With the favorite being Sweeney though he is injured. KC SHOULD NOT HAVE AN AS THIS YEAR Detroit - I still think IRod is going to the AS game. He'll be voted in by the players based solely on Reputation alone. Inge is second in line behind IRod. Bonderman has a shot if IRod doesn't go I still think his ERA and WHIP are too damn high. Minnesota - Santana and Hunter are both locks for the AS game. Jesse Crain has a 100000 to 1 chace of making it as a MR. Chicago - Buehrle and Garland will both be in the AS game for sure. Konerko has a definite shot at the backup 1B spot if Sexson doesn't get it. Politte has a 10000 to 1 shot of making it as a MR. Hermanson probably has the 4th best chance of making the AS team seeing how Batitsta is most likey going to take up a spot as the Blue Jays lone rep. Garcia has an outside shot with his strong push going into the AS break. Scott Podsednik has THE outside shot, probably no chance in hell but I like seeing his name up there. jackie hayes
Some dark horses to consider -- Andy Sisco for the Royals, Haren and Harden for Oakland. I don't think any of them'll actually get in, but I'd guess they're in play. Harden's obviously the unlikeliest, w/ all the missed time. One of Duchscherer and Street has to get in, too. knightni
Boston might have Damon & Clement. New York could have Jeter and Matsui. Texas could have Chris Young and Soriano. Anaheim will have Colon. I'd say the bench would be: C- Ivan Rodriguez 1b - Sexson 2b - Soriano SS - Jeter, Michael Young 3b - Cantu, Chavez OF - Damon, Emil Brown, Matsui, Hunter DH- Hafner SP- Halladay, Buehrle, Garland, Cliff Lee, Clement, Colon, Young, Randy Johnson, Santana, BJ Ryan, Batista. WHarris1
Freddy Garcia>Chris Young Ok, well actually it's real real close and they are similar as hell. But Freddy gets a slight edge. Now Tito, etc need to realize this. Assuming 12 pitchers go. 12 pitchers 1. Roy Halladay 2. Mark Buehrle 3. Jon Garland 4. Matt Clement 5. Bartolo Colon 6. Johan Santana 7. Mariano Rivera 8. B.J. Ryan 9. 10. 11. 12. Those are 6 I can confidently say are locks. Any suggestiosn for locks? Edited July 1, 2005 by WHarris1

jackie hayes
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 06:11 PM) Suspension? Would that affect his eligibility? I dunno, I figured it would only apply to team games. But maybe. It would be very difficult to exclude him if he's eligible.

knightni
Randy Johnson is still deserving, even in the off year. Check the stats. If Johnson doesn't make it, then, Rivera will.

Even with his slow start he is the most worthy.

Kalapse
We shall break it down one last time. Though it won't happen seeing how the Coach of the AL AS is Francona. Lets compare Freddy Garcia's stats with Matt Clement's shall we. Garcia - W:8, L:3, ERA:3.29, CG:1, SHO:0, H:96, BB:29, SO:77, WHIP:1.12, OPSA:.641, BAA:.231, K/BB:2.57, BB/9:2.33, K/9:6.19, H9:7.71 Clement - W:9, L:2, ERA:3.82, CG:1, SHO:0, H:104, BB:35, SO:88, WHIP:1.28, OPSA:.672, BAA:.251, K/BB:2.51 BB/9:2.91, K/9: 7.31, H9:8.64 It's a damn shame Francona is the manager of the AL AS team, though he does deserve to be.
