Kalapse
I love the way a lot of you have given up on a 21 year old pitcher who pitched last year at AA. Send him down to Birmingham and let him develope properly instead of rushing him along because he was good in spring training. He is our #1 prospect for a reason. He is not a bust (yet). The s*** that has been said tonight about how he sucks and how we should trade him now while some "stupid team might still trade for him" is just pathetic. It's unbelievable how reactionary a lot of you are, it's really f***ing sad. I'm Done.
Milkman delivers
Viz gets out of it, and I give him credit for doing so. Still, I don't trust Viz because he puts too many runners on. He's the relief version of El Duque.

CWSGuy406
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 02:52 AM) I don't consider Cotts, but I'll give you Garland. Still, that's not a lot of guys in the last few years that we've developed. Why not count Cotts? He spent a full season at Birmingham, which was over a third of his whole minor league career. Whatever, it's not that important. Compare that to a team like the Cubs -- who have just one position player starter who they developed (Patterson), one platoon/backup (DuBois), the "Big Three" (Wood/Prior/Zambrano), and then a bunch of reliever types, none who really seem outstanding, but a bunch of average guys (Mitre/Ohman/Wuertz et al). Obviously, Wood/Prior/Zambrano were good picks, but two of the three were taken in the top five (Wood and Prior), and the other was a ammy FA signing, so there's 29 other teams shaking their heads. We haven't had the chance to draft a Prior or a Wood...

Milkman delivers
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) The s*** that has been said tonight about how he sucks and how we should trade him now while some "stupid team might still trade for him" is just pathetic. I clarified that he sucks right now and that it doesn't mean he'll always suck. But it can't be argued, he certainly sucks right now. I'd also trade him, but I would've traded him even before I'd ever seen him pitch. That's because I don't put any stock into prospects because they don't always turn out. Oh f***, Walker is warming. If Ozzie brings him in and he blows it, Ozzie isn't thinking.

You can say he shouldn't be on the team and that he's not ready, just don't say he sucks.
