Guest JimH
Looks like Birmingham had a bullpen collapse tonite, they could not hold the lead. C Donny Lucy was 2-4 for Kannapolis, he's up to .283 .

With Meaux out and Jenks to Chicago... so far it seems they haven't received anyone to help fill the gaps (Tom???). Only Reynoso (who gave up 2HRs, 3 ER in 8th with a 2 run lead), Pollok (walk off 2 run HR with a 1 run lead) and Lamura in the pen. A little short, no???? BHAMBARONS
Huntsville 6 Barons 5 Wow this is a tough loss words can't really describe from going to high's of high's to the lowest of lows all in one inning. The Barons in the top of the 9th by hustle plays by Jerry Owens and Chris Young then Ryan Sweeney hit a 2 run double off the top of the RF wall then Pollok with 2 outs gives up an oppsite field shot to Brad Nelson who threw out Ryan Sweeney at the plate to end the 9th. The 9th inning rally for the Barons started with a bunt single by Jerry Owens and a Andy Gonzalez single made 1st, 2nd no one out Rogowski poped up and no advancement, And then the real key play Young beats out a potential DP sets up corners for Sweeney who crushed a ball off the RF wall that scored both Owens, Young, Feilds singled through the left side but Sweeney was out at the plate. Huntsville Rally started with a 4 pitch looking strike out of Tony Gwynn JR, Glider Rodriguez followed a single Vinny Rotino hit into a fielder's choice set up the games final play. Pollok fell behind 2-0 drew a nice slider for called strike then a slider on the outside edge that Nelson hit opposite field and just over the extended glove of Jerry Owens. BHAMBARONS
QUOTE(minorsfan @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) = A little short, no???? Very short two of the guys are really hit or miss Pollok is usually good tonight he was beat by a very talented hitter which should not be in this level. I hope the Sox's would have handled this situation but they haven't a 20 man roster won't get it done.

Thanks for the insight and lets hope the starters keep up the good outings. 6 starters and 3 available relievers just doesn't cut it-- they need some help and soon!! Thanks for the insight and lets hope the starters keep up the good outings. 6 starters and 3 available relievers just doesn't cut it-- they need some help and soon!! What is worse is 2 of them are so touch and go, where you can get 2 IP 5 K's or tonight 2/3 inning 3 Runs 2 HR's what is really bad is Huntsville has the fewest homers in the league our Pen gave up 3 in a 1 2/3. Also our starters went 23 2/3 only 1 run BP 5 in 1 2/3 innings. Also woke up a sleep walking Huntsville team who really didn't seem to care a whole bunch about playing. Corwin Malone will now be pitching out of the pen with Haigwood replacing him in the rotation. The move is nothing against the way Malone is pitching, rather a way for the Sox to take things slow with Malone. IN fact they are quite pleased with Malone's progress thus far. But your right on the pen being short right now.
Chisoxfn
Hey Bham, I don't have the box score up but I was gonna ask you how Haig pitched tonight. I know he was slated to start (I'm assuming he did) and was going to see how he looked (this was his bham debut IIRC).

(The kid throws lots of change ups) Ya, its supposed to be his best pitch. I'm think he also has a pretty good curve or slider, but can't remember which at the moment. Definately does a lot to keep guys off balance. He's probably one of my favorite prospects.
