Capn12
Fact remains that: Yes, there were people with better stats who you could argue were more deserving. Yes, there are better all around players that got left out of the game this year while Pods, who excels at 1 area, got in. BUT...those facts don't matter, because Pods won on the fans vote, and he is making a huge impact on the MLBs BEST TEAM. So peopel can say what they want about someone 'deservign' it more than Pods. Fact is, this is how the voting is setup. Don't piss and moan about it when the Yankees don't get 17 players into the All Star game every year. Its all part of the fans being first and foremost in charge of the product they want to see, the way it is SUPPOSED to be.

NUKE_CLEVELAND
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) I don't think Pods should be going to the ASG. How many times have Sox players who were clearly better been screwed out of an ASG spot because of voting? For that matter, I'm still angry about Thomas getting screwed out of the MVP back in 2000 by roid -freak Giambi. I totally think Pods should be there because while the only stat he has that stands out is his steals he does so much for this team. Between him and Gooch they carried the offense while the sluggers were struggling. He helps other hitters get good counts and better pitches to hit because his presence on the basepaths is a major distraction to the opposing team. Not everything a player does to make a team better gets counted in the stat column. What has Jeter or Matsui done to make their team better? Gene Honda Civic
Ask yourself this, Would Podsednik deserve to be in the ASG with his current .289/.363/.337 and 41 SB with the Sox 5 games under .500? No F'n way. You guys are letting the Sox great record cloud your vision. He's 20th out of the 21 qualified LFers in terms of OPS. He's in the middle of the pack in avg, and OBP. -- He's an average at best defensive OFer. Essentially he's a one tool player. He has speed. That's it. That's not an All-Star. Steve9347
Pierrsal's old-ass also had something else stupid to say. When asked which was the better story, the White Sox having the best record or the Cubs sucking balls, he said the Cubs. he's an idiot, he's entitled to his opinion, but he's an idiot.
