JDsDirtySox
TSN's Ken Rosenthal is reporting that Preston Wilson will be traded to the Nationals for Zach Day and J.J. Davis if the Rockies agree to pick up enough of Wilson's salary. Wilson could also block the trade or at least hold out for an extension, since the Nationals are on his no-trade list. That Wilson is an obvious downgrade from Ryan Church based on this year's numbers makes this look like a loser for the Nationals. However, they don't view Day or Davis as pieces of their future. Day would make a lot of sense in Coors Field, and his presence would make it easier for the team to trade Joe Kennedy and Shawn Chacon. Davis might get much of an opportunity with the Rockies
Balta1701
Is there any source other than Rosenthal? Especially with trade rumors...I don't like to listen until it actually happens. Especially if people would consider it a downgrade THIS YEAR on a team currently at the top of their division.

bjm676
Why would he block the trade? Stay on a s***ty, last place team or go to a 1st place team. Yeah, that would be smart. Edited July 8, 2005 by robinventura23
KevHead0881
He's better than what they got, but Wilson is no more than average these days. His overall numbers are so-so, but he's hitting a whopping .224 with 5 homers outside of Coors. Considering that RFK isn't exactly hitter friendly, I don't see him making a huge impact. That being said, the Nats are still a good team and getting Wilson won't hurt. Edited July 8, 2005 by KevHead0881

WilliamTell
Dang, I was hoping it'd go through for the Nationals, it'd be cool to see them win their division.
Antonio Osuna
Looks like the national league club on the north side will get him now.
knightni
I don't think that the Cubs are going to be buyers this year like they thought a few weeks ago. They could be selling a decent amount of complimentary players.
