Cubs Suck23
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) New updates from the Trib... 34,000 for a Wednesday Tigers game??? Wow! Looks like alot of band wagoners are jumping to the south side
Greg Hibbard
jesus christ maybe averaging 33,000 the rest of the way is actually realistic
upnorthsox
We could avg 36k this coming homestand(it depends on Tuesday), Yankee series is a sellout, Minny series will be a near sellout, we'll avg 34k for the Seattle series and maybe more, the same for the Angels, Detroit labor day weekend could be huge, and the whole final homestand vs CLE and Minny should be huge. That leaves the Toronto and KC series' along with which way the labor day weekend goes to decide. If we get 33k for DET and 30K for TOR and KC I think we have a pretty good shot at 34k the rest of the way.
The Critic
When I go to a game with the family, I take full advantage of the Sox' "bring in" policy. We bring in a clear plastic bag with a liter bottle of water ( frozen to partially solid, to keep it colder longer ), a couple sandwiches, and some cookies or chips for the kid. We barely have to buy anything at the game - maybe a Pepsi and a cotton candy. Of course, this savings is negated by the 17 dollar parking fee. The increase in attendance is nice to see, even when you factor in the s***heads who come to USCF in Cubbie gear for a game between the Sox and A's. They have to pay to get in, too, and they absolutely seem to keep the beer vendors busy. So more $$$ in the coffers for the Sox.

From 1.3 million in 1999 to 2.4 million in 2005 is a da.....mn good improvement !! If we draw 2.4 million this year and play decent next year...we could draw about 2.7 million in 2006 which would be great for more revenue and maybe a free agent or two... All in all, with Buerhle, Garcia and Garland as the core of your starting pitching I don't think this will be a 2000 were we were good for one year and then just a little better than average the next.. I think the White Sox could be good for three or four years which would mean over 2.5 million each year and more money for the team.. The problem is we have reduced seating now since we lost the top eight rows of the upper deck so if every game sold out..3 million would be hard.. If there is money left for additional renovations...why not put in a porch in maybe right field to increase capacity from maybe 38,000 to 41,000 or more? I just remember the dark days of the late 90's after the White Flag trade going to games and there were 8 or 9 thousand people...it was depressing.. A Saturday game back then that had 20,000 people felt like a sell out...30,000 was unheard of unless it was the Cubs.. Now most of our games are over 30,000.... SouthSidePride05
With the increase in attendance and an inevitable buzz about to hit the South Side, do you all think the white socks will make their return? I don't think they were out in full force in 2000, but I remember in 1993 it was the big thing. My prediction is after Friday night's game where they hand out Hanes white socks to the first 20,000 or so, from then on everyone will start doing it again. Everyone will see it on tv, and it'll catch on. Edited July 16, 2005 by SouthSidePride05

I actually had tickets to the game a few days prior which was rained out and we were able to exchange the tix for the clincher. I was so happy that game was rained out! Not to get too far ahead..but I really hope the White Sox clinch at home - to me it is ten times more exciting to clinch at home.. The 2000 Clincher in Minnesota was kind of dull... The Sox would need to be ahead six to twelve games to Clinch at home..(the last six games are on the road)...

CWSGuy406
I got myself tickets to three games next week -- Monday against Detroit in the UD, Wednesday against Detroit in the UD (still gotta buy tickets, I got the teacher discount tix, maybe UD tickets), and Saturday against Boston with Soxnbears and IlliniKrush. Then I probably won't go for awhile, save up again. The game I really want to save up for is the game at home when the Sox have a chance to clinch. I don't care if I have to give $75 bucks for a standing room only seat, I'll do it. And any playoff games thereafter.
SnB
I'll be saving up money for the rest of this month and august. Going to the game w/ keith on saturday ^, but that might be it for the summer before school starts up again, unless i run into free tickets somewhere. I can guarantee we'll be driving back from champaign at the chance of clinching......and playoff tickets are a must for me. Like someone else said. Can i afford it? no Can i affort not to go? no Edited July 17, 2005 by Soxnbears01
IlliniKrush
Keith...is that teacher discount for Wednesday an online code for ticketmaster? If so...what is it. I might be there Wednesday as well. As Steve said, the bus* will be coming back to chicago frequently during september and october. *We don't have a bus, but it sounds cool.
