Kalapse
QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) How about: Nats Get: Preston Wilson White Sox Get: Zach Day Rockies Get: JJ Davis(from Nats), Willie Harris, and Jeff Bajenaru (from Sox) I would never wish that upon Baj. GoodAsGould
QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) How about: Nats Get: Preston Wilson White Sox Get: Zach Day Rockies Get: JJ Davis(from Nats), Willie Harris, and Jeff Bajenaru (from Sox) The only thing holding up the trade with the Nats is the issue of money. So im guessing we either have to give them a good prospect or pay some money for Wilson's contract.
SoxFan1
Why Zach Day!?! KW is dissapointing me with the Ted Lilly and Zach Day talk. Hopefully this trade doesnt happen unless there is a 2nd and bigger trade involved for us.

I bet a package of Zach Day and B-Mac can get something pretty good in return.
Dick Allen
It looks like there is a $3+ million hang-up on the original trade. The White Sox aren't going to throw that kind of money Colorado's way to pick up Zach Day. I believe the report is erroneous.
LosMediasBlancas
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) If this happens, who's to say there won't be another move? Exactly. As a first move, I don't mind it. As the only move, horrible and dissapointing.
sircaffey
As long as the price isn't harsh, why not pick up another SP who's had a decent amount of success? Perhaps KW has decided to stick with Contreras in the 4th spot and with Orlando's health issues and BMac not being ready, Day would be a good backup plan. This could possibly mean that KW is looking to make a major move at the pen and not the rotation which I would prefer. Perhaps he's making a play for Wagner? Day's a heavy sinkerballer. With Garland being very similar, perhaps Day could learn a thing or two from Big Jon.
Dick Allen
Day has also been injured each of the last 3 seasons, and walks a lot of batters.
sircaffey
Hell, if JR and KW are willing to buy Day off the Nationals, this would be a tremendous move. No important prospects moving freeing up that much more we have to acquire a real impact player.
AddisonStSox
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) Day reminds me of Garland before this season. Yes. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) this seems more like a deal you make in the offseason. this is not a deal to get us to the promise land. Agreed. Day is one of those young arms you trade for to work on your rotation/bullpen of the future. That said, does he fit the mold of a first-class pitcher to lead a charge deep into the playoffs? Absolutely not. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Zach Day is a decent young arm. Maybe a trade or some time with Don Cooper would be just what he needs. Agreed. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) I would absoultely love to have a healthy Zach Day. Ditto. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) If this happens, who's to say there won't be another move? Here's the quote to keep an eye on. Struggling teams (i.e. Giants, Jays, etc.) and and successful teams (i.e. Marlins) alike would love a young arm like Day in their system. Here's an example of obtaining a guy with the hopes of turning him around with another prospect or two for that "stud" starting pitcher so many of you are calling for. DBAHO
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Why Zach Day!?! KW is dissapointing me with the Ted Lilly and Zach Day talk. Hopefully this trade doesnt happen unless there is a 2nd and bigger trade involved for us. How can Lilly or Day dissappoint you? They're both good pitchers who haven't reached the prime of their careers. Make no mistake, when 100%, Day is an excellent grounball pitcher who would be an ideal swignman for us as Gene said. JoshPR has also seen him first hand over the last few years IIRC, and speaks quite highly of him.
Gene Honda Civic
QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) How about: Nats Get: Preston Wilson White Sox Get: Zach Day Rockies Get: JJ Davis(from Nats), Willie Harris, and Jeff Bajenaru (from Sox) Probably pretty close.... I guess you could toss miles in there back our direction. I don't know why we'd really want him, but I'm as low as I've ever been on Willie right now. Getting Day would signal that Vizcaino is on his way out too, so he could go to Arizona for Cintron, who would make Willie expendable, and not require Miles. He's got more tools than Miles. We would probably have to throw in mid-level spec too. (I don't know who Arizona would have backing up all three infield spots though, so that rumor is probably a product of this board.) Steve9347
Here it is boys. Zach Day would be one of the two major league arms going to San Francisco with B-Mac. Obviously, we can't give up Contreras in a deal, and no one wants El Duque, so to get the other major league arm, KW is going outside the franchise. Its all a means to an end boys. PS, i dont know why everyone is complaining about a pitcher who had 2 of his past 3 seasons with an ERA under 4. When did we get this picky? In AAA the D-Backs have Scott Hairston who's hitting .307, while Chad Tracy could play more third base to back up Glaus, which is his natural position. They have Matt Kata as well IIRC. AddisonStSox
VERY IMPORTANT INFO: Jason Schmidt: 4-Year deal worth 30M- + he will make $4,937,500 in 2002, $5,937,500 in 2003, $7,937,500 in 2004 and $8,187,500 in 2005- + the deal includes a Team option for 2006 worth 10M or a 3M buyout- + he can earn 1M in bonuses over whole contract- + received 50K for each All-Star selection Agents: Randy and Alan Hendricks Zach Day: deal for 2005 season worth $357,500 Both players would be available to any prospective ballclub through at least the year 2006. So, say, the White Sox go ahead and trade for Day only to use him with McCarthy or another prospect for Jason Schmidt, the White Sox can decide to exercise Schimdt's option for 2006 and keep what was one of the best pitchers in baseball on the roster. Hmmmmmmmmmm...now I think I'm starting to get bit with the deadline-bug. 2006 Rotation??? Buehrle Garcia Schimdt Garland Hernandez/Contreras

This would be a move to improve this team. We don't have a healthy 5th starter right now. Bring on any trade that improves this team.
