Unless crude falls to about $50, gas isn't going down until at least Labor Day. As a matter of a fact if crude stays around $60, don't be surprised to see gas go up about another quarter a gallon in the short term. CanOfCorn
I just drove back from Dallas to Austin yesterday and I saw everything from $2.29 to $2.07. I remember being in Austria with a native Austrian friend of mine and as we passed a gas station, I said, wow, your gas isn't that expensive (after doing the money conversion in my head), then she says, Oh yes it is, and I say, Oh no, it isn't and then she says, Oh yes it is, cuz that's the price per liter!!! Which is to say it was, at the time around $1.25 per liter and 1 liter is .26 of a gallon. So there's $5 a gallon!!! Yikes.
DePloderer
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) I admit the prices SUCK! But let's have fun, let's have one of our UK folk tell us their prices!!! Ok are you sat comfortably. Here in England petrol is averaging 85.6 pence per litre. 1 UK Gallon = 4.54 Litres therefore 1 UK Gallon costs £3.89 There are 1.2 US Gallons to 1 UK Gallon therefore 1 US Gallon costs £3.24 at todays exchange rate that is.................wait for it...................... $5.76 per Gallon! My Ford Focus costs $76.00 to fill. May I suggest you all stop your moaning and drive, drive, drive! Rex Kickass
I'm getting off lucky at 2.19 a gallon. But it isn't so much about the relative price of gas as much as the jump. In early June, I was paying 1.85 a gallon.
