AAP: Micah Schnurstein

:)

I'm sure Dan will love my topic description on Micah. However, I noticed no one had him so I'm taking him.

Micah is a converted middle infielder and is slowly becoming a good defensive 3rd baseman. In his rookie season with the organization Micah absolutely tore the cover off the ball en route to becoming a highly rated prospect.

After that Micah hit some slumps (mainly due to some injuries which kept him out and effected his swing). Now he's getting healthy and is really starting to turn that gap power into HR power.

Micah has a very smooth swing which will lead to lots of Xtra base hits in the future and he has the ability to be a very good average hitter as well.

Currently hitting .284, .351 OBP, 10 2B, 2 3B with 11 HR and 39 RBI for Winston Salem

Was a career .286 hitter entering this season and was selected by the Sox in the 7th round of the 2002 draft. His favorite player as a child was Frank Thomas.

Micah personally gave me one of his fielding gloves last year. I'll adopt him.

Awesome...I'm glad someone is replacing him cause I have been horrible at updating my AAP.

By the way welcome aboard. I should also note he hit his 17th homer tonight and really needs to get up to AA. The guy still has a lot of power ability and if he can produce in AA I think he'd be back on the prospect radar. He's a good guy and I am hoping he succeeds (one of the first guys I ever interviewed down in the minors).

I'm a Barons season ticket holder, so I go as much as possible. They REALLY need him. About a year ago, he gave me the glove after they won. He said he had something for me, and tossed it to me. I was shocked. He's four years younger than me but he made me feel like a kid. After that, whenever the Barons would win, we'd exchange fists pumps as he was coming off the field. So, I was disapponted after he only got to play one game for the Barons this year so far. He's done plenty to deserve a promotion.
