kapkomet
The NHL lockout will be over today - that is according to two sources I know of, one is a couple of websites but more importantly the player reps have been told that an announcement of a deal should be later this afternoon. This is all pending approval by the BOG and the NHLPA ratifying the new CBA. GAME ON!!! Edited July 13, 2005 by kapkomet

The Critic
I guess I'm happy about this, since I love watching hockey, but man, they took a lot of my interest away with this yearlong bulls*** lockout. I'll watch the NHL on television ( if they find a network willing to broadcast their games ), but I definitely won't pay a penny to see any games in person for the foreseeable future. I'm not going to say I'll never go to a Hawks game again, because I know that's not true, but it's gonna be a while.
Queen Prawn
If this is true, we will be going with the original plan for the honeymoon - Raleigh, North Carolina.............YES!
The Critic
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Wow, almost creepy how similar we feel on this. There is no chance I will give any money to Wirtz or the Hawks after this, but I will still be interested in what the Hawks do in the future, and the devolpment of the players in the system. They finally do seem to be headed in the right direction, and the Yawney hire was solid, but my interest has been diminished for sure. I didn't think anything could dampen my love for the game, and in a lot of ways it hasn't been, but the NHL just kinda lost me. I'll pay some attention, but not as closely as I have all my life. If they want to create a headline that would perk me up, it would be this: BETTMAN, GOODENOW AXED Ineptitude, Stupidity Cited As Main Reasons For Firings
IlliniKrush
Okay, i just thought of this...(if this happens) good move by the NHL to announce it today. Nothing going on in the sports world. Only day in the year that it is so (i consider the HR derby enough to fill monday). Maybe it will get more than 2 mins on SC, etc. And though the NHL has hurt me a lot, i'll be coming right back because i'm just too big of a fan. Hockey's in my blood, i just love the game. I may not go to as many games (though ticket prices are hopefully down), but i'll be following just the same. I'm a rarity, probably. But i cannot at all fault those of you who may not be into it as much after this lockout.

kapkomet
The NHLPA and their agents will be getting copies of the deal at the end of the week. I won't tell you how I know that.

EvilJester99
Awesome....I can't wait to see how they set the draft up now. I would love to see the Hawks land Crosby but I know that will NEVER happen! The way luck goes he will end up on the Dead Things!
CWSGuy406
Some news regarding the draft (found at BHZ): -Draft on July 30th. Lottery on the 21st. -Each team will start with 3 lottery balls. Based on the past five (could be wrong on that number, don't quote me) seasons, each time your team made the playoffs, you lose a ball. So, it looks like every team is going to have a decent shot. As for the Hawks, they made the playoffs what, two-three years ago ('02?), so I think they'll have two balls. What great news... This is awesome. DROP THE PUCK! Steve9347
Well it will be interesting to see what the Blackhawks do. Knowing their history, they will be cheapskates. As for my dream scenario, it would be the Hawks draft Sidney Crosby, then sign the likes of Marcus Naslund/Peter Forsberg to put on a line with Tuomo Ruutu. It worries me, however, that there is such a wide range in salary cap. The minimum is 21 million, with a max at 38 million. Something tells me Wirtz will keep the Blackhawks below 30 million. The max contract a team can offer is 7.5 million, so these two players are certainly possibilities. Either way, its going to suck when I come back down to Earth and see the Hawks signing Mark Janssens again. The Hawks payroll will be somewhere between 30-35 mil, and a Top Defenseman and Top Scorer will be signed. Besides, Janssens wasnt signed to be a top liner, he was signed for a 3rd line faceoff man... Have faith in Tallon, he wants to succeed.
