CWSGuy406
I'm gonna combine this with the Jay Payton/Chad Bradford trade. So, three trades to talk about... Trade 1: Boston gets Chad Bradford. Oakland gets Jay Payton. Trade 2: Washington gets Preston Wilson + $$$. Colorado gets Day and PTBNL. Trade 3: Oakland gets Witasick, Kennedy. Colorado gets Byrnes and Quintanilla. Edited July 14, 2005 by CWSGuy406
kev211
Why do the rockies want eric byrnes? Im figuring there going to trade him soon.
CWSGuy406
Scratch it, I'm not gonna merge it with the Payton/Bradford thread. Stupid idea. I wouldn't be surprised to see Oakland flip both Kennedy and Payton to different teams.
Whitewashed in '05
Wow Eric Brynes, as much as I loved watching that guy play I am glad to see him leave. He always gave the White Sox trouble. I would love to have him instead of Timo.

Gene Honda Civic
Byrnes is the most overrated fielder in the game. Even more overrated than Jeter. He gets painfully bad jumps, often breaking the wrong direction, but makes up for it with a diving stop that will somehow be #1 on Web Gems. A good fielder would never have to dive for the balls that Byrnes makes spectacular plays on.

I don't have MLB extra innings or anything like that so I only watch him against the sox.
SnB
kinda OT, but when i was at the sox game on friday, byrnes was the most fan friends with all the fans, especially the oakland ones during BP. just a weird observation by me
Buehrle>Wood
I doubt Byrnes is there for long. He'll be off to Houston in no time now that Wilson is off the market. The Red Sox and Padres are about to pull off a monster deal as well.

That would have to be contingent on Boston getting another starter. I can't really see the Pads giving up on Nevin. Who do they have in the wings? BHAMBARONS
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:12 PM) That would have to be contingent on Boston getting another starter. I can't really see the Pads giving up on Nevin. Who do they have in the wings? Paul McAnulty- 7th overall prospect good power hitter, hits for AVG as well and solid with the glove as well. Won the SL homerun Derby today as well.
YASNY
Boston outfielder Jay Payton has been traded to the Oakland A's for reliever Chad Bradford. ESPN's Peter Gammons is now saying that Payton may be on his way to the Yankees, so we'll have to see. Payton was not happy with being a backup in Boston and was designated for assignment last Thursday. He hit .263 with five homers and 21 RBIs in 55 games for Boston. beck72
It certainly makes sense for teams like Oak. and Col. to spin off guys like Byrnes, Payton, Kennedy, Witasik etc for younger, better talent to possible playoff teams willing to overpay
Punch and Judy Garland
I think SD needs to add bats, not subtract. It would bery KW-like to allow Wells to leave via FA and then trade for him
