I've been to a LOT of games this year, soxfest, and I've even sat in the scouts a few times.  I own 5 Sox pro-jerseys amongst many other items.

And I'm not pissed off at this team.  I love KW and Ozzie and this team...but I'm not just going to forgive and forget the years of futility because of one year.

 

Like I said, put down the Koolaid...one year does not a good owner make.

I don't think I said the ownership was amazing. I said, or implied rather, that people should only complain when they are contributing to the Sox. Increasee attendence means more money for payroll. So, I find that when season ticket holders b**** about the payroll it's more valid than a lot of people on this site that go to maybe two games a year. That's my point. The payroll is, I think, a reflection of the money that is taken in.

 

And what about all the years the Twins beat us with a lower payroll. No doubt that money-wise Pohlad is a waaaaaaaaaaaay worse owner than Sox owners.

Look, I'm not trying to be negative on the White Sox...this is one of the best teams in the game right now, and I'm not being negative on Ozzie or KW or the team...and I'm thankful for what the team has accomplished thus far...but I'm not ready to just hug and kiss good ol' Reinsdorf because we're having a good season.

 

I'll do that when we are considered a real team like this EVERY year. I grew up in Bridgeport, so the Sox are all I know when it comes to truly loving a team, and I've been to more games over the years than many will ever attend since it takes me 5 minutes to walk to the park...

 

But one good season and the thank you letters come out and suddenly your all drinking the kool aid.

 

Well, good for you, I'm not saying you can't...I'm simply not going to pick up the glass and drink it yet.

I have yet to go watch JR play a baseball game so he personally never has nor will he ever affect my decisions regarding the white sox.  Blame Schueler for the white flag, he made the f'ing trade.  If you think JR can spearhead a full scale lock-out (94) your an idiot. 

 

This point has been beaten to death so far it is disgusting.  The things he does for players, yes he pisses some off, and for the community as a whole is increadible.

F him for adding ONLY 25M in payroll bringing us to a staggering 75M which is LOW for a big market team in a big city.  It clearly shows fans will show up if we win.  So spend 100M like every other major team.

 

As I said before...the Tigers are headed to 100M+...if you really think we can compete with them with a 75M payroll in the years to come, you're about to see the Tiglets win a bunch of division titles.

 

We need to spend...this isn't 1985 anymore...

 

And no, I'm not congratulating him for spending more money because it's nowhere near enough for the market he's in.  It's about 20M shy of what it should be.

 

Just remember NOBODY thought this team would be this good.  NOBODY.

 

So, to reiterate what I said, this team was build/designed DESPITE Reinsdorf giving us only 75M dollars.  Oh, and this team will EASILY eclipse 75M next season...more free agents, more payraises, etc...and if we aquire someone like Burnett we have to sign that guy, too...which is even MORE.

 

That's why I said I reserve the right to take back these comments depending on the trades we make and the moves/payroll we add in the offseason.  I always leave room to IMPROVE...but the improvements I've seen thus far from Jerry are lagging behind the rest of the league.

 

Riddle me this, would you rather than Cuban owning this team, or Reinsdorf?!

Cuban would have this team at 120M already, and we'd be considered an elite team EVERY year, not just one single year like this one.  :P

 

Its easy to say that we are a major market blah, blah, blah. We you compare us to Detroit, you leave out one easy fact, the Tigers aren't sharing a market with anyone. They have an entire city to themselves, not to mention basically the entire state of Michigan. Even if you wanted to assume that the Sox split Chicago (ha-ha) we would only be talking about less than what the Tigers have exclusive rights to. Keep in mind of all of the dual market cities, Chicago is the smallest. They also have the lowest ticket prices and the lowest attendance levels. It takes a halfprice night to get people to games here, while people pay $50 a ticket in New York for the samething... Gee I wonder why our payroll is lower? Hell the Cubs have a season sold out before they ever take the field, have way higher ticket prices, and still have a payroll barely at what you are talking about. You are being irrational to expect us to have a payroll like that with the ticket prices and attendance that the Sox have.

But I still think this season clearly shows that Sox fans have become pessimestic over the years...and if they spend more money for a better "product", the fans WILL show up, half price night or not. The attendance this year has been steadily increasing as a result of the team...

For the record, before Spring Training, I thought this team would be this good. Then ST started, then I went and saw them at Miller Stadium on April 1st, and I was convinced we were in trouble.

 

I am now convinced that Ozzie "dumbed down" our ST so as to not show the competition just what he had exactly.

JR is the best owner a Chicago franchise has had because of his dumb luck of buying the Bulls that had MJ on it. Being the best owner in Chicago is like being the tallest midget. How about some quotes from JR?

I also have a problem with how he handled Fisk's departure. Honoring him with his own day at Sox Park and then cutting him on a road trip a few days later. Then Fisk wasn't even allowed to go into locker room before the Sox playoff game to wish them good luck.

 

JR has done many things that make me think ill of him. A thank you not is not going to make me forget such things. A championship will help but I doubt I will ever forget threatening to move the team unless he got a new Park.
