A Season To Remember

Recommended Posts

I just got done watching "A Season To Remember", a DVD about the 2004-2005 Illinois basketball team.

If you are an Illini fan, this is a MUST own. It is a great piece of work from beginning to end. I had chills many different times throughout and cried at certain points at the tale end.

It came out recently and i was finally able to get a copy of it. I know you can order it from www.fightingillini.com Of course if you are down in Champaign, it is easy to get a copy of it there. I don't know if it's anywhere in the Chicagoland area quite yet.

Man, what a ride it was.

Anyway, enjoy the DVD

I was actually up at night the other day, stirring at how distant a future Illini run at the Final Four may be. I know we just extended Weber through 2011, and I'm very happy about that, but we won't see a talent level similar to that of the 2004 team for years to come.

Kinda sad actually. That said, I wouldn't trade this season for anything in the world. It was one hell of a ride and I was damn proud to be a small part of it.

is there a seacat highlight brian?

:P

we'd definitely be on the DVD if there was

NO, LOL

However, there are some extra features on the DVD, including the famous introduction video at Assembly Hall. If you've been to a game, you know what i'm talking about...

I gotta disagree, we are only a few years from another final four in my opinion if Weber can land Sherron Collins, Eric Gordon, and Derrick Rose. If we got these three guys, we'd have a backcourt that would be right there with Williams-Brown-Head.

Gordon looks to be heading to OSU and I'm hearing Collins is really interested in IU and Iowa.

I don't follow the recruiting that closely, but I know all three of those guys are very high on Illinois, time will only tell.

Gordon hasn't even listed OSU in his last few interviews and has stated that Illinois is his current favorite. Also, almost everyone who follows Collins recuitment thinks that Illinois and Iowa are his top two. And his comments at the Nike Camp backed that up.

If we lose him to Iowa, i'm gonna cry

And I'll jump for joy. I still remember how close Iowa got to beating you guys last year (after I predicted a win). My god I'd of been in tears if they won.

Of course Alford had to save his job. I just hope he's figured things out now cause I don't stand for mediocrity and the Hawkeyes have some decent pieces returning and should be able to at least compete for a middle tier spot in the big 10 (which would get em in the tourney).

yes they did. They came damn close to beating us at home, which is a no-no

no one else even came close at home.

When TV Guide came out with it's 25 best sports moments in the last 15 years and had the Illini-Arizona comeback at 18, I rewatched the tape I have of it, and it showed our record in games decided by 5 points or less. That was our 37th game, we were 36-1 at that point, and the Illini record in games decided by 5 points or less was....................................1-1. Nobody but Iowa really did come close. They matched up with us really well though.
