southsider2k5
http://espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stark_jayso...on/1547667.html This is pretty interesting write up of the history of how teams begin and where they finish.
The Critic
Here's the line I don't like... Only three of those 112 playoff teams (or 2.7 percent) finished April more than 4½ games out of a playoff spot Now I know the Sox are not 4-1/2 games out of a playoff spot - they're 4 games out of the Wild Card right now - but they ARE 4-1/2 games out of the division lead. If they were playing lights out and KC was just playing that much better than them, I wouldn't be too concerned. But the team is not playing well at all, and something has to change NOW. southsider2k5
It is interesting because something has to give. They also say in there that a team has never lost 100 games and then made the playoffs the next season (ahem KC)
IlliniKrush
They just tied it up with the Rays in the bottom of the ninth damn it
SoxFan1
Actually, right now, NO TEAM is toast! Only 1 month has passed and there is A LOT of baseball left. I mean, the Tigers could come back and win 75% of their series and be in the playoff race (highly unlikely) but you know what I mean!
