He has shown flashes in the past, but he's just downright scary now.  It appears as though the Cubs have f***ed up big time.

For some reason he just was never going to work out in the Cubs organization. He just never clicked there. Kinda like Kip Wells with us, or Bobby Jenks with Anaheim. That ol "Change of scenery" cure.

So, the dude only allows 1 run since May 4 in 28 games, I snatch him up on my fantasy squad, and he gives up 3 runs in 2/3 of an inning in his first appearance.

 

While I can't complain, as the Sox scored those runs, I'm still confused. Is he not cut out to close games, or is he entitled to an atrocious performance every now and then?

Well, he didn't get an opportunity to close any games in 2003 or 2004. He's clearly a much better pitcher now than he was in 2001 and 2002 (when he was in his mid-twenties).

 

But those numbers from May 4 through July 16th aren't indicative of what he can do, in your opinion? At least out of a set-up role?
