cwsox
Manuel, on the other hand, should be fire and drowned in the Chicago River. What the hell kind of comment is that? I assume everyone is perfect at their job? If not, all of you can go jump in the f***ing Chicago river. Whether Manuel gets fired or not, you guys are acting like he is not human. You talk about him like he is a piece of s***. I can guarantee you that he wants to win more than any of you f***ers. I was going to write a nice calm post about him, but obviously the majority here coulnd't understand fair comments looking at things from both sides. You want to get the team going? Send FT to AAA. The bastard has done s***. Send Konerko out. Hell, you guys wanted to crucify Carlos Lee and he is one of the only guys hitting well now. While we're at it, let's just demote the whole damned team and switch it with Charlotte. They seem to be playing well. Let's just hope they don't struggle, cause you guys would panic after the first guy went 0-4 two days in a row! Other than the comment on Frank, who has been getting on base, for the rest of your post, very much agreed.

JM is a great guy and I wish him all the best. I have my belief that his style is much better for a team filled with veterans. Just like I think Joe Torre would struggle with the Sox, because I think of him as more of a veteran type manager.

I have no problem with someone thinking that JM should be fired, but let's not put the guy up for a public hanging. Reading all of this, I feel like I am in Alabama listening to all of the idiots who want to crucify their football coach (pick one past or present, they aren't happy if your name is Bear Bryant). A guy doesn't win and they want to hang him.
Chisoxfn
This is something I saw in Sports Illustrated talking about Kenny Williams. They are mentioning how he is one of the most influential minorities in sports. In 2000 Williams became the third African-American general manager in baseball, and he has already made his mark in the front office. In January he helped engineer a three-team trade that resulted in the acquisition of Bartolo Colon from the Expos. "Kenny's one of the brightest minds in the game," says Oakland G.M. Billy Beane. "He's very self-assured, straightforward and honest." In Williams and manager Jerry Manual the White Sox have the first minority G.M.-manager combination in baseball. Of course Beane thinks he's one of the, "brightest minds in the game"..... because Beane is brighter and usually on the + side of all the Sox/A's trades . Chisoxfn
I knew that someone would bring that up, but I think Beane is being honest and I do think that Williams is probably one of the smartest minds out there. I don't see too many teams with this much talent out there at the Sox payroll level. I can't blame Kenny for the inneficiencies of ownership for not spending money. I also can't blame ownership for not spending the money when they get piss poor attendance like they had this entire series and for most of the games against the Twins. Those are games against some of the best in baseball and they get crappy attendance. I don't give a rats butt how cold it is, plenty of fans should of been there. Plenty drudge out to see the Bears and I wish plenty would see the Sox.

Wong & Owens
Tell you one thing, Manuel pulling Koch for Marte last night might have been his best move of the season. Now, if he would only move FT out of the 3-hole, he might save his job. Sure, Frankie's still walking a bunch, but you really need more production out of your 3 hitter. Move him down to 5 or 6, or maybe even up to leadoff, ala Jeremy Giambi. I would love to see how FT's stats compare to every other team's normal #3 hitter. Grebeck Fan Club
Not well, I'd guess. His OBP is great, otherwise, not so good. He's been on base three times without scoring at least four times this year. You can't blame him for that. Nothing short of a WS championship will satisfy most of the Manuel bashers. mreye
How many playoff appearances has Manuel made? By my count....it is 1. Bobby's made it twice. once in 5 years twice in 15 years JM wins again! Nailed! Love it cwsox!!!

Jim Fainter
As I said somewhere else, I don't think Koch should have been there in the first place. Flash was pitching great, so leave him in and get the win. Marte would have been my second choice. For my money, Koch is no longer the closer. He has to win the job back. Now, given his history as a pretty fair closer, it wouldn't take too many good outings to give him back that role, but in the meantime he should be given less crucial roles. Having said that, JM did show some ovaries by taking him out (finally) in the ninth, unlike those other games where he just left Koch in until it was over and lost. Guest JimH
What Koch clearly said ... and anybody with eyes could have read his lips ... was "F--- Off" while looking the other way, not at Manuel. So to say he said "F You" to Manuel is heresay ... that certainly wasn't shown on TV. What about Konerko blowing a gasket in the dugout on Tuesday nite after popping up vs. Foulke? I didn't see any great backlash against Paul ... double standard going on here???
RedPinStripes
take it for what its worth coming from the score but north says he has inside sources saying manuel is gone and his replacement will be either bobby valentin or wally backman LMFAO! Mike North is just looking for attention because he cant get anyone to listen to his god aweful show. Sox and Roll has more credible info then the score does and we're not even a "real " radio station. f*** the score! :finger

1549
I definately say Manuel must go, Contrary to what CWSOX loves to say, Manuel is a crappy manager. he had one good year...The question of a replacement is tough. 1) Bobby Valentine, survived over here in New York for 7 seasons...that alone is a fricken miracle. Met fans are actually harder on managers than Sox fans, plus there are millions of Met fans...very tough on a manager. The problem with Bobby Valentine is his teams started poorly...often. And in both 1998 and especially 2001 the Mets played terrible baseball in late August-September...both times it cost them a playoff spot. If you are looking for a fiery manager...Valentine is not the guy, he doesn't yell at the players, but he does talk crap about them too the media. Met clubhouses were always divided, mostly because of Bobby V. I agree with WiteSoxfan said, Bobby V. did not always have the best players. The main thing I like about Valentine was his handling of the pitching staff, until last season he could take a weak bunch a long way. If it weren't for Armando Benitez and Met's GM Steve Phillips, Bobby V. would still have his job...but both f***ed up, and Bobby V. paid for their mistakes. 2) Wally Backman would be the guy the Sox would hire probably. Just because he is a more low profile guy, within the orginization, just seems like a White Sox manager. I think at a time like this though it would be smarter to bring in somebody that has managed a big league ballclub. Manuel was the right choice in for the times when he was hired for the 98 season. Backman would be the right guy if we were rebuilding, but we are at a point now where we have a chance to get to the playoffs. This is the best time since the early 90's to make it because the division is weak. It could be now or never (or at least for a while). I wish Tom Kelly was still interested in managing, he would be the best choice
