Do not see your point on that one We gave them Sosa, we did not get Palmeiro for Mitch Williams...huge difference. One of the deals had to do with the Sox, and we lost bigtime to the cubs directly. Just cuz the Cubs lost the other one, we didnt benefit for anything. You can't say "thanks for Palmeiro" like they can with Sosa.

IlliniKrush
How so? How does getting rid of Sosa have anything to do with finding Ordonez? It's not like we couldn't play both of them.

Ordonez was lower than Lee all through the minors and Sosa wouldn't have been benched so Maggs would never have gotten an opportunity. cwsox
We can say thanks for takin Sosa and allowing us to discover Magglio Ordonez. That sentence is too long. We can say thanks for takin Sosa. Period. The guy was not a worker, not a fit, not anything that fit in with our team. It was always about sam-me, not a team guy. I was so glad when we traded that talented person who wasted it because he was just a weak distraction for us. And it took hom a few years in cubbie ville to turn into the vaudeville entertainment now knows as sam-me. For Palmiero, one of my buds who hates everything cubbie blue once said that the only player the cubs had that he would ever want on he Sox was Palmiero. I think he was right - but I started paying attention to Palmiero a lot more after he said that, since it was the ultimate compliment for a cubs player. Are you saying you wouldn't want Sosa on this team right now? Or are you saying you don't think he would have developed into the player he is now? Because i should sure put up with his distractions if he's going to put up those ridiculous numbers in this lineup

Everyone is nuts if they say they wouldn't love having him. The guy busts his ass game in and game out. Sox fans would go nuts for him. He gives it his all and puts up amazing numbers, and I do think he cares about his team-mates. He seems to be growing as a player and person every year.
