Keep the new guy for now. We've kep benchwarmerjim so far so why not him. As long as he stays within line.

Nitetrain, here's the party line, assuming I can speak for all of the other mods and admins (which is a huge assumption) -- He's regitered about 10 names on this and other boards. (G-Man, Twins Rule, Twins sux, Go Sox, Fry the Twinkies, Crash, etc...) He's a 14 year old kid who's got nothing better to do than trash sox sites. If you want you can spam his blog with gay porn links. (that probably doesn't have the full backing of the admins, but I'm done with that kid) -- http://whitesoxsuck.blogspot.com/ -- Jim is welcome to stay. He's a good poster who isn't here to start trouble. G-Man's M.O. is to get a few hundred posts under the radar before he really has a good time turning the board to s***. Argue for him to stay all you want. He's gone.

Jody Gerut? Meh.  He's ok.  Dubois has some major power potential and is much better suited in the AL.  Not so sure Hendry fleaced the Indians here.

If the Sox traded one of their best young power hitters for a 4th outfield in a pretty suspect outfield, we wouldn't exactly be thrilled.

Im scared this might awaken the cubs chances

I think the pathetic pitching of the Pirates and Reds has pretty much done that. With the Cubs starting pitching, they should have an advantage every game they play against those teams.

Thanks for the info. Let's hunt him down and go Willy Ligue on his ass.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the Cubs "raped" the Indians in this deal.  Dubois is a big time power prospect, and even though he's better suited for a DH position, the Cubs could have packaged him to get a much bigger upgrade in the outfield over Jody Gerut.  There's not a team in the AL that wouldn't take their chances on Dubois as DH.

Agreed with Fathom and Kevhead. Dubois has some pop -- a .929 OPS in the minors. Problem is, Dusty kept f***ing around with him by putting in Holly rather than sticking with him. Gerut is alright -- nothing special offensively, an improvement defensively, but as far as ceilings, I'd much rather have the former with Dubois, regardless of his defense.

Shouldn't we be happy that the Indians (the team in our division) got the worst of the trade rather than the Cubs (in the other league).

It's like Prior ending up on the Cubs instead of the Twins in the draft. We should be glad that we don't have to face Prior in a Twins uni.

:notworthy Honestly, I don't think Dubois is going to help the Indians down the road and Gerut for whatever reason had a great rookie year, had a tough sophomore year and hasn't been given a shot again.

That's how I feel, Gerut has been struggling and if Dubois is given the chance to play he'll put up good offensive numbers. But like Kalapse said, his fielding is f***ing comical...

Can someone who thinks that this is such a lopsided deal for Hendry and the Cubs tell me why exactly...?  I could see one thinking it being in favor of the Cubs, but by no means is it a 'steal'.

I wouldn't call it lopsided I just personally think highly of Gerut and not so highly of Dubois, that's just based on watching them play not minor league numbers.

fathom hit this trade right on the head...Gerut got benched in favor for Casey Blake. I read about the first three pages of this thread and it seemed he was the second coming of Roberto Clemente. Gerut, is a decent outfielder...really nothing all that special but does everything decently. Dubois on the other hand...well he's got some really good pop.

I really don't see the "fleecing" or the "raping" here. Especially since the Cubs could have packaged Dubois for someone much better (see: Juan Pierre or any of the Reds OF). Instead they have someone who blocks the likes of Pie and Murton and to a certain extent Corey Patterson when the Cubs are probably just better off letting one of the young guys play.

On the other hand, if the Sox could get this kind of value for Joe Borchard, I'd be ecstatic. Granted, we wouldn't need another OF in return but maybe there is a market for Borch after all. /endwishfulthinking.

Sounds very fair to both sides to me. The Cubs get a competent outfielder with upside and the Indians relieve their logjam for at least another season. Both are nice players, perhaps an ever so slight advantage to the Flubs but its close

I agree 100%. I don't see how this is a "steal" for the Cubs at all.

Look at all these troll names they have given me on southsiders.net

1st time - I had "too many Cubs" on my all-city team, 1st series. Name: "Some Uptown Yuppie"

2nd time - I registered under the same IP. Name: "Flubbie Troll # 1"

3rd time - I asked if they believed the story that AJ Pierzynski kicked thje Gaints trainer in the nuts and if they think he's a cancer in the clubhouse. Name: "Been hatin' on AJ a bit too much"

4th time - I cheated on techgeek's trivia game, an they kicked me off. Name: "CUBS SUCK!"

5th time - I got kicked off b/c they found I had this blog My name stayed.

6th time - I trolled under "Twins Rule" they deleted the posts, b/c they can't stand looking at Johan Santana

7th time - I trolled under "Crash" again they deleted the posts, b/c they can't stand looking at Johan Santana

They really have too much time on their hands to make all these troll names, and of they can't block my IP 100%

They even blocked the Wilmette Library. I was there the other day, someone wanted to register there, asked me why it allow it. I told him that southsiders.net people are dopes, and they blocked this b/c I live in Wilmette, and have gone on this board as a troll a bunch of times.

They blocked me own school from the site, though I'll ask the school to block it, b/c it's a forum, and they don't allow people to go on forums.

from his blog

Some people have too much time on their hands, I swear. This kid hates the Sox more than he likes any other team. He likes the Cubs, Indians, and Twins. I could see the Twins and Cubs, he wouldnt be the first to like those two teams, but the Indians too?
