YASNY
Baldwin had some pretty decent numbers during his short time with the O's.
toasty
from mlb.com: Quote Baldwin update: The Orioles reluctantly designated right-hander James Baldwin for assignment on Monday night, and Mazzilli admitted it was a difficult move. Baldwin had a 1.61 ERA in 22 1/3 innings and saved the bullpen on several occasions with his steady work. The Orioles have nine days to trade, waive or release the 33-year-old, who might have earned another chance with a Major League club with his numbers. "We looked at all the options, and we needed a catcher and a utility guy," Mazzilli said. "You go down the line and see what you can get away with. It was a tough decision because he brought a lot to the table for the team, not only on the field but what he brings to the table in the clubhouse and the bullpen. He is a special person that way. It was a tough decision."

wsox08
I remember Baldwin doing poorly against the Yanks, it was on espn... Best of luck to JB!
Punch and Judy Garland
With his numbers, there is a decent chance that he might still make someone's big league club, or at least garner some AAA interest.
southsider2k5
There will be no AAA for JB, with those numbers someone will trade for him.
LosMediasBlancas
QUOTE(wsox08 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) I remember Baldwin doing poorly against the Yanks, it was on espn... Best of luck to JB! I like your thinking. Gotta look at how a guy does against our potential playoff opponents.
LostInBoston
JB was picked up by Texas, FYI. Good for him!
The Critic
Texas always seems to need pitching. Do you think JB will get a chance to start for the Rangers, or is he strictly a bullpen guy at this point?
jackie hayes
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Texas always seems to need pitching. Do you think JB will get a chance to start for the Rangers, or is he strictly a bullpen guy at this point? Just a guess, but I imagine he'd be able to start. He's had some real long outings w/ the O's, 2, 3, 4 ip. And he's been primarily a starter in the minors while working his way back. Whether they intend to use him that way, I have no clue. I'm still surprised they let him go (little behind on the baseball news here). As much trouble as they've had with that group, and they cut one of their best performers?
