beck72
I read this last week that Furcal could be moved when Chipper Jones got back. Now this is circulating around elsewhere http://pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review...s/s_355235.html He'd be a nice addition. Esp. with his bat getting hot, his high SB total, his defense. He'd cost a lot in terms of talent. Yet with little pitching help available, the sox could use prospects to get another solid, versatile offensive player to help for the playoffs. He'd be a FA at the end of the yr. They may not re-sign him, and still have uribe the everyday SS for 2006. Yet the sox could offer Furcal arb. [only making $5.6 mill this yr], let him go elsewhere for $9 mill a yr for 4 yrs, and still get 2 high picks. I'd like Vizquel. But with no talk on that front, why not Furcal? qwerty
QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) I'd like Vizquel. But with no talk on that front, why not Furcal? We already have one drunk on the team ( jenks).

Punch and Judy Garland
People gave me a hard tiem when I suggested Furcal was better than Uribe. He'd sure be looking better as a Sox player now than Juan
sayitaintso
I wouldn't mind if we got him. But what would the sox do with uribe? Move him to the bench or involve him in the trade.
That funky motion
You keep Uribe! He can play 3rd 2nd ss. Bye Willie!!!!!

Exactly, Uribe is like the ultimate infield utility man and he thrived in that role last year b4 he got the 2B job.
Steve9347
Question is, why do the Braves deal him? They are in a tight race out east. Either Furcal's shoulder is a big problem, or Betermit is that good. I don't know. Either way, Furcal would make this team even more explosive, and give us better option off of the bench. Uribe then becomes a backup at 2B, SS, and 3B, and we aquire what would become the best 9-hitter in baseball. I don't know what we would have to give up, but I'm sure Raffy wouldn't be cheap. Steve9347
I agree, there would be no better player to turn around this lineup. Unfortunately, for what the Braves are asking, he won't be dealt to the White Sox.

qwerty
This is the same guy who has had a below par year the year before free agency? Yes, he will lead us to scoring eight runs a night every night.

Furcal's a FA after this yr. The way Betemit has played, maybe they'd be willing to give Furcal up. ATL sure needs some bullpen help Usually, when ATL's name comes up in trade rumors, something happens. Schuerholtz usually gets something done, and doesn't try to "hold up" other teams in a deal

santo=dorf
.258/.317/.395 is not worth $5.6 million. Just two weeks ago his OBP was below .300 :puke

bulokis
Im all for getting Furcal in here. I like Uribe and he is one of my fave player but he has done nothing so far to deserve his contract. Last year, Uribe got on base no matter how bad his swings are. This year, he just swings on almost every pitch.
