Steve9347
Oh goodness. If someone who were completely retarded to the baseball world were to take a look at this Chicago White Sox board, you would think that they had the worst record in baseball. Along with this many other things are quite obvious. Of course, Willie Harris needs to start at second base, Juan Uribe is the worst hitter in the AL, Joe Crede is dead, and God has a vagina. Wait a minute, none of that makes sense! On the contrary, at 62-32, the Chicago White Sox have the best record in baseball. Tadahito Iguchi, though his BA has dropped, has been doing the job right all year long. What happened in the first inning? Pods single, SB. He's on second, what do we do now, or rather, which would you like to see. a ) Willie Harris look at the first two pitches, and then go down swing on a third strike above his head. b ) Tadahito slap a grounder to the right side, Podsednik moves over. (this is what happened) HOLY s***! IT'S BASEBALL 1-2-3! Of course, this counts against Iguchi's average, and thusly looks bad in the stat sheet (where many a person at this board derives their information). Of course, Iguchi also doubled in the game, and if it weren't for Konerko being unable to be clutch all year, might have scored. Oh, sure, he had two errors on one play, his defense has really dropped off. Now his season total of errors is 7 instead of 5, he can't catch or throw anything. Joe Crede has been on the rise of late. He dropped a pop-up, which was a huge factor in the White Sox loss tonight. My God, it happens. However, how many guys have been as clutch as Crede this year? In the last week, he has single-handedly been the only guy who could do a god damned thing. THE WHITE SOX HAVE THE BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL!! THEY HAVE ONLY LOST THREE GAMES IN A ROW!! What has happened this year? The Sox win an assload of games, lose a couple, then go on another tear. Everything can't work out for us every night, we still have a ten game lead! Let's all take the tampons out of our assholes and be happy that the White Sox are world beaters right now! The Red Sox played a flawless game, and pounded the s*** out of the ball, and only beat us by 1 run when we committed three errors. Let's all take a breath, a s***, and a shot, and go to bed. peace, im outta here. Edited July 22, 2005 by Steve9347

DABearSoX
I totally understand what your saying. I think the reason why I (and plenty of others) are extremely upset is because this is a series that replecates the post season the most. It was very rough being there and seeing it happen....I am going to sleep it off now and wake up in 5 hours for work......Went to 3 games this week and my blood pressure has risen ten fold, haha. I am just gonna stick to the TV for the next few, take it easy, and enjoy.

fathom
The reason we're pissed off is we just lost 3 games in the standings in a little over 50 hours. Also, our current line-up just doesn't match-up well with the above average teams we have to face during the 2nd half of the season.

WHAT WHAT WHAT, PLEASE TELL ME You take any negative comment way too seriously. If you really think this offense is good, then I don't know what to say. This week, besides for the Spurling Sensation, the offense has been piss poor. We can't score without a homer it seems like or a reliever coming in and just pitching awful. Sometimes, the offense has to go out there and just outslug the opposition. Our pitchers have pitched under so much stress this season without a lot of room for error. If anyone actually thinks our pitching will match it's first half of the year, then I recommend you watch games at the Cell when it gets hot out. atrain081
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) That best record in baseball thing only goes so far. It is going to be tough to keep up the kind of baseball we played in the first half. From here on out, it only gets tougher. Our offense is going to need to swing the bats better for the rest of the year if we want to play some postseason ball. Am I worried? Of course not. However, Pitching and defense only get you so far; the offense needs to be there as well.
The Ginger Kid
"Obviously, [the White Sox] have the best record in the league," Boston first baseman Kevin Millar said. "It's early right now, [so] you're just trying to win series. This is not life or death. If we sweep them or they sweep us, the season goes on." daa84
seriously everyone needs to just settle the f*** down about last night. yes last night sucked because we blew it. our defense usually takes away runs and last night rowand, iguchi and crede all made poor plays that cost us runs. ironically those are 3 guys who have been solid on D all year. that won't happen again. i think we need to realize that some of the runs scored last night by boston, came off of fluky plays that wont happen again tonight....ie the check swing that stayed inside the line, the bloop just over credes head, rowand not catching the ball in the center....i realize its frustrating when we beat ourselves. but the fact of the matter is that we just faced teh defending world champs, faced their best starter, their best reliever, and then curt schilling, and beat ourselves, and still only lost by 1....not to mention we didnt have the teams best player since the end of april (dye) and a guy who gets on base 4 outa 10 times. I aint worried cuz we lost last night. what worries me more is how we played vs. detroit, especially the lack of O off of robertson and bonderman. mrzo2733
I think people should definitely just relax. I must say first though that I missed almost all the game cuz I was at work, so I didn't have to watch what happened. But I think that this is actually a good thing from the way I look at it. First and foremost, we still have a big lead so it's obviously not time to start worrying about that. The reason this is good though is we are getting a chance to play the Red Sox right before the trade deadline and use it as a measuring stick. I have never bought into the whole "I don't wanna make a trade because it might disrupt the chemistry. I just don't see how going out and getting a guy like Guardado (the guy I want) will upset the chemistry. A pitcher can stand in a corner and not do anything in the clubhouse as long as he comes in and does his job. I have felt and still feel we don't have the team to win the World Series and that is what all of us have set our sights on. If we were to sweep Boston or take 3 of 4, it would reinforce the notion to KW that we should just go as is. If this kicks us in our butt a little, then it's the best thing for us. We need to find out now where we stack up vs. a World Series caliber team, so we can adjust and go from there. That is why I think yesterday's loss was not altogether bad. Balance
We're White Sox fans. Nothing good happens to us. Our team has thrown a World Series more recently than they've won one! The north siders get all the press! Just when we think it's safe to believe, our hearts get ripped out! Our park sucks! Our offense sucks! AIIIIIIIGHHHH!!! ZoomSlowik
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) Is it true we now have a losing record against teams playing above .500?? At least we still have chemistry. That number is extremely misleading because some of them are at or below .500 in large part because of our head to head numbers. How good do you think Cleveland's record would be if they weren't 3-10 against us? And is there really any difference between Cleveland's 2 over and Detroit's 2 under? I'd say no.
