Dick Allen
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) Unfortunately, he is the best 1st baseman out on the market this year in Free Agency. I would rather use his money to add another top line starter and a reliever and let Gload and a cheap right handed first baseman from FA plantoon at 1st. You could always trade for a big contract, or get an oufielder and have Dye play firstbase starting with spring training. I am not as sold on Gload as a lot of people. I really think he's a journeyman who had a big September last year.

Frankensteiner
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) Agreed, right now we are below average overall at ss, 3rd, rf. Average wise 1b, C, 2b. Actually we're below average at SS, 3B, RF (w/Timo), C, CF, and DH. That's just incredible given our record.
Flash Tizzle
Has anyone ever seen a game where our hitters have missed more straight fastballs down the middle? Weak fastballs with no movement which have been fouled off.

How often do you see career minor leaguers becoming full-time starters? Not often.

Guest JimH
Well, this is twice in this series in a key at bat that Uribe has grounded out on the first pitch. That generally means he doesn't have enough pitch recognition or isn't experienced enough to be patient. Solution? Ride it out and hope his defense makes up for it, or make a trade and have Uribe be the super sub. What will Ken Williams do?
maggsmaggs
Why do we always suck against the worst pitchers. Our offense will be the reason that we don't get past the first round in the playoffs, assuming we make the playoffs.

Sox hitters are way off tonite but this guy is damn good, ask the Cubs. Not making excuses for Sox hitting, they are not executing, but to call Miller one of the worst? No way. They're making their run right now, and they're getting their pitchers back. We have just as good of a chance as trading for Vlad Guerrero. maggsmaggs
I wouldn't mind Dye to 1st, and signing Jacque Jones. I just am so angry with Konerko, we lose so many runs because of his inability to manufacture runs and beat out ground balls.

His velocity is way down, and his curve doesn't have near the bite it used to. He's not one of the worst pitchers, but he's not someone who should be shutting you out through 7 innings. His curve has some serious bite tonight. He's definitely pitching a poor ballgame here though, our hitters just aren't hitting him for whatever reason. Just one of those games so far. Good thing is, we got 6 more outs.
