White Sox Josh
I was wondering if maybe the Sox could add Uribe to the Burnett deal for Alex Gonzalez. He would look good in a Sox uniform because he is exactly the type of player the sox would want. he is great defensively and is good with the bat. nitetrain8601
He's decent with the bat, but I agree and would say he's better overall than Uribe. But what incentive would Florida have to trade him for Uribe?
WSFAN35
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) I was wondering if maybe the Sox could add Uribe to the Burnett deal for Alex Gonzalez. He would look good in a Sox uniform because he is exactly the type of player the sox would want. he is great defensively and is good with the bat. Gonzo is someone people on this board have been talking about recently. He's always been an excellent defender, and it seems like he's found his swing. Ozzie's a big fan of him, and he's a free agent in the offseason. The question is, why would Florida want Uribe?

White Sox Josh
maybe just put uribe in the utility role. Send over another guy from the Minors.

They really need some relief help badly. I think they would want more. I think a mid level prospect would have to be included in that deal. I wouldn't mind the Sox going after him in FA or Nomar. I think Uribe is just a good bench player at this point.

nitetrain8601
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) Don't go after Nomar. He is overrated. he can't stay healthy and even when he was healthy this year he wasn't better than Uribe this year. He's a clutch hitter, still decent defensively and he hits for average and power. That's a reason why I suggested it.
JoshPR
Nothing is gonna happen at short cause Uribe signed long term. I would liked to add Furcal's speed with Pods'

Nomar is a hall-of-famer. Uribe is a bench player. Nuff said. Not that I'm for going after Nomar because of his injury history and his high price tag, but come on, that statement is bullplop. Would a guy like Robert Valido be enough for the marlins. maybe something like this: Marlins Get: Robert Valido Willie Harris Damaso Marte Brandon McCarthy White Sox Get: AJ Burnett Alex Gonzalez

I would liked to add Furcal's speed with Pods' I think we'd all like Furcal. However, that's extremely unrealistic. Gonzo, or Vizquel are both realistic, and sufficient solutions to our shortstop problem.

Outside of White Sox fandom, people think Frank doesn't even have that great of a shot at the HOF. The only thing Nomar would have over Frank is BA and that he played the field (not very well though). Oh well, back on topic. Just had to get that out there. ChiSox_Sonix
It would be insane to throw Valido into that deal, IMO. One, because I think thats too high of a prospect to deal for a rent-a-player in Alex Gonzalez but also b/c we have no other real MI prospects (unless you count Getz). I think the Marlins would accept Uribe for Gonzalez in that deal b/c Uribe is young and signed and they could platoon him with Easley for a couple years until Andino is ready. Plus, Gonzo is a FA at the end of the year and I dont think they're gonna resign him. However, now the problem for us is if we trade Uribe our potential SS's for next year would be Ozuna cuz we have no one at AAA or AA that could play, meaning we would be obliged to go out and get a FA SS and I dont know who would be available at the end of the year. If we were to try to get Gonzalez as well I'd prefer to keep Uribe and trade a prospect not in our top 10-12 (which includes Valido). I would be willing to trade an Owens, Baj, Fields (RP), Whisler type prospect for him. The Marlins would probably bite on a Baj and Fields package. ( I doubt they'd take Owens just b/c Eric Reed is the same player but with a higher potential).
