clujer420
I haven't seen anyone mention this, so I apologize in advance just in case I'm being redundant... Cut and pasted from www.chicagosports.com .... Anger management is considered one of Jerry Manuel's redeeming qualities. The Sox manager met with closer Billy Koch about that topic on Friday. Koch was upset Thursday night when Manuel took him out of the game with two outs in the ninth inning against Oakland. Koch, who has a 7.82 earned-run average and two blown saves, stormed toward the dugout, flipped his glove into the stands and kicked the bat stand in the dugout. "Today I am fine," said Koch before Friday's game against Seattle. "[Thursday night] I was pretty hot. I had a good talk with Jerry and it was good. I look forward to today. We had a good conversation and expressed how each of us felt." Koch, acquired in an off-season trade with Oakland, had walked leadoff man Ramon Hernandez and given up a two-out hit to Erubiel Durazo before Manuel summoned left-hander Damaso Marte to face left-handed hitter Eric Chavez. "I think Jerry was expecting me to do that, to be ticked off and upset," Koch said. "If I didn't care, I wouldn't have been. I do care, and I want to be out there to do my job and finish my job. When I can't, I am upset about it. I pride myself on my job, and I have to just go out there and get the job done." Manuel also said Friday's meeting with Koch was productive. "It was a private meeting, but it was a good meeting," Manuel said. "Billy Koch is the guy who wants to be out there when the game is on the line. I know it has got to be frustrating for him at times. But he handled it about as well as expected. He was frustrated about it because he wants the ball. That's what you want as a manager. You want a guy who wants the ball in those situations. "There are going to be times when he is not going to be right. And when you have a chance to win games (with another pitcher), then you have to make those decisions." --------------------------------------------- I don't care what anyone says, I'm glad Billy showed some fire Thursday night. He's one of few Sox players who have this season, and hopefully his competitive nature will rub off on some of our zombies.

Guest hotsoxchick1
i dont mind anyone having a fit but theres a time and place for it... and when you do it with disrespect to your coach as billy botch did then i have a huge problem with it... botch better take a lesson from paul.. whinney baby fits will only keep you down and unproductive....espically when you direct them twards your coaching staff........ .......... It's very easy to say a guy sucks after he leaves your team. 144 saves over a 4 year span doesn't suck.
