Sox @ Royals 7/25/05 Game Thread

Only 7 hours til game time and no thread? Slackers!

The Royals have been playing better of late:

The Royals, with interim manager Buddy Bell, are hitting .292 as a team in the last 17 games and have scored 87 runs, an average of 5.1 per game, while the pitching staff has allowed 73 runs, or 4.3 per game.

But it's the Royals' bullpen that has excelled, leading the AL in strikeouts (272) and compiling a 2.96 ERA (23 earned runs in 70 innings) in the last 21 games. Closer Mike MacDougal had his 15th save Sunday in a 6-5 victory over Toronto.

Also:

Jermaine Dye had one more day off Sunday but was in good spirits. He was available to play after being sidelined when bug bites on his left leg became infected.

''I'm much better,'' he said.

''He'll definitely play [tonight],'' Guillen said.

Tomorrow: Buehrle v. Lima

Wednesday: Garland v. Hernandez

with the Twins in NY for three you can't help but feel that the Sox could gain some serious ground over the next three days.  A 15 game lead in the loss column in the last week of July would sure look sweet!

I love Aaron in the 2-hole. That's where he'd excel IMO.

I was talking in the chat the other day and here was my ideal lineup.

Pods

A-Row

Everett

Dye

AJ

Konerko

Iguchi

Crede

Actually, I like Gooch in the 3-hole but thats just me. I agree with A-row in the 2-hole, he excels there, unfortunately, so does Uribe......

Baltimore has been slumping lately too. They just got swept by the D-Rays if I'm not mistaken. This is a good time to be catching them.
