southsider2k5
This makes about as much sense as airline workers striking or the NHL canceling a season, union labor is crumbing in the US as their power position dwindles. Now the unions are splitting over powerplays and money. Its sad because the US worker needs strength in numbers more than ever, but like an consumate politician, they don't care about the people they represent. http://www.forbes.com/business/energy/feed.../ap2155563.html
Rex Kickass
I'm an optimist. I feel that this is good for labor. There are a lot of people that are very unhappy with the AFL-CIO's complacency over the last 20 years or so and want to start a new alliance that is more proactive towards the needs of workers. Unity is only smart when you're united behind leadership that actually wants to further your goals.
Heads22
It'll be interesting to see how this sorts out. I know my dad is a member of AFL-CIO and AFSCME.
Queen Prawn
Brian's union was "absorbed" by teamsters and my dad is in SEIU. Should be interesting.
