Kanny's game got postponed because of rain, so no Brooks tonight, which is dissappointing.

Bristol lost 9-6. Cunningham 2 for 3 with 2 walks leading off, another good night for him. Sanchez 0 for 2, now down to .238. Cortes started gave up 7ER in 2IP.

Barons 9 Montgomery 8 (10)

W- Reynoso L- Smith

Barons win a wild extra inning game with a 3 run walk off homer in the tenth from Darren Blakely who drilled a Fastball out to Right Center this came one pitch after a costly error by Elliot Johnson who also was 0-6 4K's and before that Cameron Smith walked Rogo and Fields on 9 pitches. The top of the 10th featured a balk by Paulino Reynoso I still have no idea what he did wrong that brought in 1 run then a 2 run double by Shawn Riggins who was thrown out at 3rd the biscuits had a 3 run lead heading into the bottom of the 10th. In between innings Razor was ejected by home plate umpire Jason Bradley. Rogo had a 2 run single in the 7th and Ryan Sweeney had a 2 run single in the 6th. In the series Ryan was 7-13 with 4 RBI. In the last 2 game Blakely was 5-7 2 HR 5RBI. Haeger had his knucler working most of the game but picks up a no decision.

Sweeney's up to .289 now, my guess is he'll be above .300 by the end of the season. Fields and Owens both had 2 walks, good signs there. My worry with Owens is that he may not have an everyday spot in the lineup for the Knights next season, like Mike Spidale, depending if Anderson repeats AAA and if Borch is back (not very likely) or Chris Young moves up to AA. I don't think that'll be the case though.

The Haegermeister with 7 K's, but 4 BB's as well. He has a 3.48 ERA in 5 games for the Barons now, tonight was probably his best outing for B-Ham in terms of K's.

Great Falls had a DH, losing game 1 4-1. Rodriguez with HR #7. Box Score

Game 2 went to the Sox 6-4. Tartaglia and Rodriguez 2 hits each. Allen with HR #8. Richard with the start, 2 innings, nothing great. Nik Lemon went 3 perfect innings with 7 Ks to earn the save. :o Box Score

Lemon's been on a mini roll lately. Hopefully he keeps it up (It must be beacuse Cheat's disappeared.)

What I like about Sweeney's .289 is that he is showing improvement over the course of the year. It shows that, despite being pushed into a high level at a young age, he is not only holding his own but making the adjustments to improve his game.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sweeney add a bit of doubles power the rest of the year and over the winter.

The question is - do you promote Sweeney to Charlotte next year so he can compete against 24 year old top prospects and former major leaguers or do you have him start in Birmingham and let him put up big numbers before promoting him?

I let him and Chris Young start at Birmingham next season, there's no need rush those two, with Rowand, Dye and Pods still under contract until the end of 06 or 07.

Absolutely no way you promote Sweeney to Charlotte until at least July only if he tears up AA. Yes, Sweeney is proving he can hold his own and make adjustments as one of the youngest players in AA but he has ZERO HRs. HRs arent a major stat, but he also isnt driving in runs. Let him repeat AA.

I'd say you promote Young before Sweeney at this point.

IMO you would like to see some of that two-bagger power turn into HRs. If he's one of the youngest hitters in AA, why not keep him for a month longer or two next year in BHam, then review where he is at, from a power standpoint? If he stays in BHam next year, it won't be a total loss.

I'm going to guarantee Sweeney will not start next season in Birmingham. As much as you guys may want it to happen, this organization loves Sweeney. He seems to be getting hot. Hot enough that he may be around .300 by the end of the season as DBAH0 predicted. If he slumps to .270ish he may stay in Bham next year, but they're not going to hold him back if he's .290s or better at season's end. With that said if it was up to me I'd give him 2 more months in Bham next year regardless.

Also, I don't see where all this Young in Bham 06 crap is coming from. They had him skip a level this year and you think they're going to hold him back with the year he's had? I doubt it. I mean why would the Sox bother he was going to have to destroy the league in order to start the following year in Charlotte. Barring this injury holding him back the rest of the season I don't see why they would or should do it.

Obviously for all of these things to take place I'm assuming someone of Anderson/Young/Sweeney/Owens will be moved or promoted (in Anderson's case) for this to happen.
