Juan Uribe is vital to this team. Period. Ozuna doesn't make half of the plays that Uribe does. Pointing to him being 7th in errors is so incredibly lame, as we are talking about 14 teams in the league, so essentially he is middle of the pack in errors, but how is range, how is his arm, how many plays does he make that go under most SSs gloves? We have already seen that defensively Pablo Ozuna can't carry Uribe's jock in a suitcase. If you want to point to offense you are talking about a guy in Ozuna with absolute zero power. But keep nitpicking stats until something sticks.

I just proved how Uribe is the worst offensive player in the AL. Let's look at his defense.

7th out of 10 shortstops in qualified fielding percentage at .972.

Don't like fielding percentage, you say? Fine. Let's look at range factor, something you seem to be insinuating is great about him. 5th out of 10 qualified AL shortstops, 14th in the entire majors at 4.5. Zone Rating? 11th out of 25 qualified MLB shortstops. What about his defense is remarkable?

Even if Ozuna's not the answer, anyone other than Uribe clearly is. Even Royce Clayton.

LMAO. Royce Clayton. The only thing you proved was that you are stirring the pot again. Have fun trolling.

I just came up with the stats to prove Uribe is totally mediocre defensively, awful offensively, and all you can do is accuse me of trolling. LMAO indeed.

Clayton is having a better season defensively and offensively. At least he has a friggin' OBA above .300! To me, that's surprising that Uribe is this bad. Hell, almost any other shortstop in the league is having a much better season.

How is looking at these stats and gleaning the most apparent truths from them trolling?

Uribe needs to be upgraded. That much is obvious.

Uribe has a BA of .236 and an OBP of .272....and 11 errors at shortstop, 7th most in the league. Since he's not necessarily stellar defensively, don't you guys think it's time for Pablo to see more tick at SS? Is Uribe's power potential that much more vital over Pablo's speed?

Ozuna might be ok at SS or even 2B, but he sucks at 3B that's for sure!

You are the s***tiest thread starter on the site.

No offense -- but this is just juvenile. Frankly, I think this is a great thread (as long as it doesnt go the way of personal attacks) Hibbard stated his opinion and then actually backed it up with cold, hard stats -- much more than can be said of the "Cruddy Sucks/Kong Sucks" threads.

a .272 OBA for a major leaguer is inexcusably bad.

So is a .339 SLG

Also Ozuna commits an E at SS every 49.5 innings.

Uribe commits an E at SS every 69.63 innings.

Our starting LF has a slugging of .356...I suppose we should bench him

Pods' job is to get on base, steal bases and score. Uribe's job is to play solid defense and drive in runs, which he has done adequately. He hasnt been that great this year but its been acceptable for the majority of the season. If Ozuna played starters time he may finish the year with 1 HR and 30 RBI and no way he'd hit .300 the entire year. Ozuna is a good BENCH guy, that is all.

In terms of qualified plate appearances on ESPN.com's mlb stats page, Juan Uribe is 87th out of 87 players in AL OBP.

86th (Aaron Boone) has an OBP of .284.
