Frank the Tank 35
According to ESPNews, Torii Hunter has a torn tendon in his ankle that will keep him out four to six weeks. Looks like the Twins are hopeless for this year... maybe they should shop their players and see what they can get.

southsideirish71
QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) HE GAWN!!! Not cool. I hope he comes back healthy and is the same player. Never celebrate or make positive comments about an injury like its a good thing when an opposing player gets injured. Yossarian
No it is never good to revel in an opponent's misery, but this is a sign that things aren't going to go the Twins way this year. They pretty much have to look to the future.
brijames
Yes celebrating an opposing players injury is classless and brings bad karma!
Guest JimH
Tough break for Torii Hunter. Just like it was a tough break for Jamie Burke.

Hunter was giving that wall an open view. It was a cheap shot from the wall.
Guest JimH
Hunter was giving that wall an open view. It was a cheap shot from the wall. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's right. Hunter plays hard and goes all out. Sometimes when you do that, bad things happen to your body. Oh well.
White Sox Josh
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) That's right. Hunter plays hard and goes all out. Oh well. you know what i used to really hate Torri Hunter (because of some of his comments and stuff) but i have really grown to respect him. Did anyone read that article about his dad in Sports Weekly. his dad is a Crack addict and the article was very powerful. Also if he was on the Sox he would be a fan favorite. i really respect how he plays the game.
dmbjeff
Im pissed cause he is on my fantasy team and now I'm forced to start Crede or Richard Hidalgo at DH, I'm goin with Joltin Joe.
GoodAsGould
2 bad for the twins.... although this almost ruins the twins chance of ever catching up to us... Torri was like their Frank Thomas even if it doesnt show up in his personnel stats all the time.
SoxFan1
As much as I want to cheer, it would be a real jackass thing to do. Any injury sucks and well, I dunno...
WilliamTell
I'll never root for someone to be injured, even if it's a Twin.
Bighurt52235
The way I look at it, I'm not happy he's hurt, at all. I'm just really happy he's out of the lineup for a month and a half.
Jordan4life_2007
All this does is increase our chances of playing our daddy's "the A's" in the first round of the playoffs.
Sox Pride 22
hopefully for our sake in the market this doesn't effect any of our chances of getting a bat before the deadline. tough for them but i guess their loss is our gain

Also if he was on the Sox he would be a fan favorite. i really respect how he plays the game. Agreed. Hunter's the kind of guy you'd love to have on your team. We've seen it time and again as an opponent. It's too bad for him. I'd like to see the Twins make the playoff's. That way we could wipe the floor with their asses on national TV and show the world that we've become everything they were, but better. Punch and Judy Garland
Yeah I'd hate for a Twins fan to celebrate Frank's problems so I hope Hunter comes back soon so we can beat them even-up
WSoxMatt
How come when I started a topic on Hunters injury yesterday it got moved, yet this one stays??? Damn Mods!!!
bjm676
Too bad for the Twins. This is bad, because they're in the wild card hunt and will make it easier for the A'ss to runaway with it now. Now I'll have to root for the BoSox or Yankees in the hunt.

Kyyle23
I just cannot imagine him being able to to anything near the kind of physical activity that CF requires if he tore a tendon in a mere 4-6 weeks. I dont wish it on him, but I think it will probably be in his best interest to shut it down. Of course, if the Twins somehow stay in it, im sure he will attempt a comeback to spark the team. WSoxMatt
There still needs to be an MRI taken, if anything is torn, he will definetely be out for the year and shame on you people that said Tough break for Torii Hunter. Just like it was a tough break for Jamie Burke.. Torii plays the game like it should be, hard. He hustles everything out and if the best CF in baseball. He is like a Sweeney, a class act to baseball. That play on Burke was completely legal, and even drew the praise of Ozzie after the game.

Plus, class acts don't go around yelling, "I'm from the hood...I'm gangsta."
JUGGERNAUT
This has bearing on the trade market. CLE may be less likely to sell Wickman & Milwood knowing that the Twins are down & out. Their pitching was suspect w Hunter so it's going to be even worse w/out him. It's likely now an ANA, NYY, CLE race for the WC once OAK overtakes the ALW.
