AWhiteSoxinNJ
From Rotoworld: ESPN's Jayson Stark believes the Twins have a chance of acquiring Alfonso Soriano from the Rangers using J.C. Romero, Kyle Lohse and Bret Boone. The Mets and Cubs also remain possibilities for Soriano, although the best guess now is that he remains a Ranger until the offseason. Milkman delivers
The Twins would have to have another trade in line to replace at least Lohse, right?
ChWRoCk2
not gonna happen, rangers are still in contention IMO, and that would be stupid to give up an all star player
Dick Allen
Stark was espnnews with this. He said the Twins still believe they can catch the White Sox.

Considering he and all the other "experts" at ESPN have been anticipating the Sox fall from the AL Central and Twins rise since May...I'm sure HE is hoping they catch the Sox

AngelasDaddy0427
LOL! This would be the best deal ever!!!! Exactly what the Twins don't need... a selfish ego driven 200 K player who has crappy defense and will drop team morale... If this deal goes down i'll have a smile on my face for a week... I don't think I could disagree more. Twins need offense, and no matter what anyone says, Soriano is one of the elite offensive players in the league. At this point, the Twins would be smart to sacrifice some defense for better offense.

They do need O but, with the loss of Hunter getting Soriano will kind of bring them back to where they were 2 days ago. Hunter is a huge blow to this team. He saves a lot of HR and doubles in that park.
fathom
QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 04:07 AM) They do need O but, with the loss of Hunter getting Soriano will kind of bring them back to where they were 2 days ago. Hunter is a huge blow to this team. He saves a lot of HR and doubles in that park. The difference between Hunter and Soriano on defense is basically the same as the difference between Soriano and Hunter on offense. The Twins have received no production from 2nd base all year, and I'd much rather face them 13 more times with Boone there instead of Soriano. Rowand44
From rotoworld: The New York Daily News believes the Twins are close to acquiring Alfonso Soriano for a package that would include Kyle Lohse. J.C. Romero and Bret Boone have also been linked to the discussions, although the Dail News doesn't mention either. It's believed that the Mets are pretty much out of the hunt for Soriano, although the Cubs might not be. EDIT: That's the same article that said the Sox were close to a deal for Huff, so once again I wouldn't take it to seriously cause the Daily news always seems to be wrong. I think it would be a AAA SP who'd come up. If Soriano was Minn's DH, it would be a nice deal for them.
