chimpy2121
Anyone worried about Azumah being out for at least 3 weeks? Knowing the Bears luck (and if it's like last year) it'll be more like 8 weeks.
SoxFan1
QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) Anyone worried about Azumah being out for at least 3 weeks? Knowing the Bears luck (and if it's like last year) it'll be more like 8 weeks. I don't think it will hurt us that much. He'll be back by the beginning of the season so I'm not too worried. I like the team thus far. I'm loving that Rex is back to 100%. I'm loving that Benson/Jones duo. I'm loving Moose. I'm loving Peanut. I'm loving the battle between Moose and Peanut. I'm loving BU healthy again. I'm loving that Edinger is gone. I'm loving the defense. I'm loving the Tank/Tommy duo at DT. I'm loving that Waly is healthy. I'm loving this upcoming season! Gage was underused last season. Berrian is a deep-threat. Bradley will surprise many. Not to mention if we ever need to do an end-around we have Ahmad Merritt. And I believe we signed Eddie Berlin as a slot-reciever. Besides, we still have Jamin Elliott!

And I think Berlin will excel in Chicago because if Turner's offensive game-plan. And Wade will be the #2 receiver to start the year simply because he was last season and he did pretty damn well... DBAHO
Ahh I knew my comment would stir up the Bears fans. The fact is Gage and Wade don't have many catches combined in their career, and it's a bit much to expect one of them to automatically step up and be the 2nd man. That said, Gage looks the one to step up if any. And SoxFan, no I don't think Bradley will suprise many. He was a reach in the 2nd round, and he's unlikely to be higher than the 4th receiver this season. That equals zero impact in an offense that is likely to be built around a power running game. Don't be surprised if he does. He is an amazing athlete and many expert from the NFL are very high on him. He can run fast and he can jump high. I believe he got banged up in training camp last night though. He tweaked his knee going up for a bomb. I do hear Chad Hutshinson is ripping the s*** out of the defense. Which is bad news in itself...for the Bears.

Merritt was only good for a WR Reverse or for an End-Around. Special teams too. Berlin will probably just take his spot. Maybe I am overrating Berlin. He will make the team because if his ST abilities and because when he catches a pass it is mostly a long pass and for 1st downs. Berlin more than just a special teams standout Edited August 3, 2005 by SoxFan1

The fact is, how many rookie WR's over the past few seasons have made an instant impact? Reggie Williams didn't. Michael Jenkins didn't. Who are the expects who are high on Bradley FWIW? Because in almost every draft review I've read, they've stated that Bradley was a reach. And Rex Grossman will be learning his 3rd new offense in 3 years, plus he's only been in what 6 games? All in all, it doesn't equal good for the Bears passing attack, although surely it can't be as bad as last season, I'll give you that. And Chad Hutchison and good don't belong in the same sentence. He makes Drew Bledsoe look quick in the pocket.
