DBAHO
QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) We should do 3 things, best of 3 gets a sig. -Julius Jones rushing yards>Thomas Jones rushing yards+500 -Bradley doesn't catch 25 balls -Need one more. Ok Dallas has a better record than Chicago this season.
SoxFan1
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) The fact is, how many rookie WR's over the past few seasons have made an instant impact? Reggie Williams didn't. Michael Jenkins didn't. Who are the expects who are high on Bradley FWIW? Because in almost every draft review I've read, they've stated that Bradley was a reach. And Rex Grossman will be learning his 3rd new offense in 3 years, plus he's only been in what 6 games? All in all, it doesn't equal good for the Bears passing attack, although surely it can't be as bad as last season, I'll give you that. And Chad Hutchison and good don't belong in the same sentence. He makes Drew Bledsoe look quick in the pocket. Michael Clayton? Roy Williams? Lee Evans? Anquan Boldin? All were great rookie players. And did you watch the draft??? Mel Kiper was gushing over Bradley. Grossman, if able to stay healthy, will be a top QB in his career. He has shown the ability.

SoxFan1
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:05 AM) How about say Julius Jones has 500 more yards rushing than his brother PLUS Bradley doesn't catch more than 25 passes for a CRAZY sig. It would be a fair deal if Jones was actually the starting RB for the Bears. It is Benson's job to lose...

The difference with those 4 is that the majority of those were top 1st rounders, except for Boldin. And I wouldn't take much stock into Kiper's opinion, he is after all Mel Kiper Jr. I know Bears fans think Grossman is going to be the messiah, but I don't see that, at least not this season. He's only in his 3rd year, and just needs to get out onto the football field and get comfortable. It's too early to expect him to lead this franchise into the playoffs. And the Bears have gotta protect him as well, which they're not great at doing.

The OL has been oft injured the last few years but a healthy line of Tait, Garza, Kreutz, Brown, and Miller is a very strong OL. Grossman's main think is that he overthinks or tries to do to much. His job is to keep the offense moving and to keep the Bears in the game. Get 1st downs, make solid hand-offs, good play-action fakes, nice sharp passes, and he will be successful. Sometimes I think he tries to do too much and make something out of nothing.

Yeah. What happened to all that passion he had for football? What happened to those tears of being a Pro on Draft Day? What happened to squashing the Ricky Williams comparisons? I'll tell you what happened....money. EDIT: Fixed that for ya there Podz... Edited August 3, 2005 by SoxFan1
Kalapse
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) I don't think it will hurt us that much. He'll be back by the beginning of the season so I'm not too worried. I like the team thus far. I'm loving that Rex is back to 100%. I'm loving that Benson/Jones duo. I'm loving Moose. I'm loving Peanut. I'm loving the battle between Moose and Peanut. I'm loving BU healthy again. I'm loving that Edinger is gone. I'm loving the defense. I'm loving the Tank/Tommy duo at DT. I'm loving that Waly is healthy. I'm loving this upcoming season! Tommy and Tank aren't going to be playing together much, they're practically the same player except for the fact that Harris>>>>>Johnson. Look for Ian Scott to be starting in Washington on Sept. 11th. Scott had 77 Tackles and 2 sacks last year in 13 games, Rivera and Lovie absolutely love him. Oh Yeah: A. Brown, I. Scott, T. Harris, A. Ogunleye, H. Hillenmeyer, B. Urlacher, L. Briggs, J. Azumah, M. Green, M. Brown and C. Tillman = #1 Defense in the NLF in '05-'06.

I love that guy. He has a knack for the ball and seems to be involved in every play. I think Odom has a shot to win the OLB job over Hillenmeyer though. And I am still not sold on Mike Green... '01 - 16 gms, 69 Ttkls, 2 sacks, 2 fum forced, 1 recov. 4 pass def '02 - 16 gms, 129 Ttkls, 1 sack, 1 fum forced, 2 recov. 5 pass def '03 - Hurt, only played in 10 games, 46 Ttkls, .5 sacks 1 int. 2 pass def '04 - 16 gms, 106 Ttkls, 1.5 sacks, 2 ints, 2 fum forced, 4 recov. 6 pass def What more does a guy have to do over his first 4 full seasons in the NFL? He is a very above average starting FS. Oh yeah... Zoom >>>> Vasher as an all around CB. Vasher is good for picks but isn't a good cover corner yet. Hunter >>>> Odom ... Joe has proven absolutley nothing on the football field where as Hunter did an admirable job filling in for an injured Urlacher last year and proved that he can start in the NFL. Marcus Reese has a better chance at starting for the Bears at OLB next season.
SoxFan1
Wow. I never knew Green's #'s were so good. I guess that play against the Packers last season at home really stuck in my mind. I hated Green for that. I believe it was Franks or Walker who was WIDE open in the corner of the endzone because Mike Green completely f***ed up the coverage. Oh well. Green is way better than Bobby Gray though. I'm not even going to argue that. Yes, Hunter did a good job at MLB but hoe will he fair as an OLB where he will be used in coverage, spy, and blitz formations more. I guess time will tell. To me, the numbers dont matter as much in football as they do in basketball and hockey. I believe baseball and football go way beyond the numbers. But it doesnt matter overall because I know the Bears have an absolutely solid defense and hoepfully the offense steps up this season with a healthy Rex, Mush, and Benson in the mix. IMHO, with any kind of decent offense, the Bears finish with at least a 9-7 record. It just wasn't all there for them last season. One guy I am super psyched about is Lance Briggs. The only reason he wasn't a Pro Bowler (although he was an Alternate) was because people overlooked the #'s and the play and saw the name and though "Who the hell is Lance Briggs?" This season, he will show them and he and Urlacher will be the best LB combo in the league. IMO, if we would have been able to ink Ian Gold over the offseason, Briggs/BU/Gold is by far the best LB trio in the league and even with Hunter/BU/Briggs, it is still among the top.
