The different systems that Grossman has been in...

West Coast offshoot

Coordinator: Ron Turner, 2005

Offensive philosophy: A combination of the rhythm and matchup approaches. Approximate number of pass plays:150

Terminology: The usual play call is about seven words. One word describes what every player does and another word can tell a receiver to run a different route -- and the other receivers have to know that their routes also change. Flexibility: Grossman is given the opportunity to change an unfavorable matchup into a favorable one at the line of scrimmage.

Carryover and confusion: Similar concepts to the West Coast and Fun 'n' Gun have made this offense easier for Grossman to pick up, but will that ultimately lead to confusion?

This is Turner's offense, the article has all the one's: Shoop, Shea and from college. I found this very interesting.

IN the Trib, they said that Shea didnt even know his own offense, half the time he was trying to figure out what the play actually was.  He was concentrating on replicating the KC offense so much, that he didnt know what he was doing.

How could the Bears hire him in the 1st place then? Really bad decision on their part.

How many good decisions can you name that the Bears have made in the last 10 years? Drafting Urlacher...signing Ted Washington...um...

They have made a decent amount of good draft picks, they have just all been on defense. Signing Muhammed could be huge as well.

I think Shea was a scapegoat for last year. When Grossman was in there and the offensive line was healthy, The Bears were top 10 in every offensive category. It's when Jonathan Quinn had to take the helm when everyone started going downwards.

Grossman's injury alone didn't doom that offense. He only played 3 games (more like 2 3/4), it's not like that's enough evidence to determine whether or not the offense would have survived. It's not like he played great in those games either, with a 1/3 TD-INT ratio and only a 56% completion percentage. Hell, Hutchinson had a better passer rating. None of those teams exactly had stellar defenses either. It's hard to believe that he was merely a scapegoat if he didn't know his own offense.

I do realize that 3 games is a small sample size, but from that sample size it was working. Jones was running, Grossman was passing and everything looked good offensively for the most part. You can blame Shea for Jonathan Quinn, but to me, there was other problems(mostly injuries) that caused the Bears to suck.

The defenses we faced were Detroit, Minny, and GB right? Well last year Minny and GB both had garbage defenses and detroit wasnt much better especially since Bailey was injured.
