jphat007
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) Question: Does anyone feel like this team has lost their swagger? It used to seem like we just expected to come from behind and win the game. Lately, it just doesn't seem to be there (not counting Baltimore). It's called a slump. Every team goes through one. We've been in a slump for the past couple of weeks and we are still 2 games over .500 in that time. They haven't lost anything.

fathom
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:24 AM) i've been saying that for the past 3 weeks or so. You just don't feel like you KNOW they're going to come back now. Definitely. Even yesterday, it just seemed like we were waiting all game for the Blue Jays to comeback and tie the game. Thankfully, the Jays couldn't get a damn runner home in RISP.
CYGarland
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) Not a terribly bad thing. Hopefully they can move past LAA. I'd much rather play them in the first round. Exactamundo!!

UGH Yet we've swung at every single 3-2 count tonight. If you're going to swing for the fences, you have to get people on base also.

Brian
AT the way our offense approach is going, Aaron Small will look like a young David Cone against us in NY.
southsideirish71
QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) Offensive slumps happen for a weak or so, not 3 weeks or so. Well on the good news front we are near the league lead in homers. On the bad news front I think most of them are of the solo variety. In the offseason KW needs to replace the Konerkos and corpseballers of the team with guys who have high BA and high OBP and people who can actually hit with men on. fathom
Ugh, I don't like seeing Jenks go two innings right now. He definitely doesn't seem to bounce back good when going out for the 2nd inning, in terms of maintaining his velocity. I'd rather just have him be a one inning dominator right now. jphat007
QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) Offensive slumps happen for a weak or so, not 3 weeks or so. We faced 3 good Oakland pitchers. Three good Detroit pitchers. A couple of deceent Toronto pitchers. Listen. We've scored 5 or more runs at home in 10 of our last 15 home games. THAT IS NOT AN OFFENSIVE SLUMP. We just havne't been winning all the close games. It's just a little team slump, and in between, we've played great at home. You guys are crapping yourselves over nothing. We haven't had the right combination of offense and pitching at the same time at home over the past couple of weeks. Its a slump. Its only been 2 weeks worth of home games. Edited August 6, 2005 by jphat007

CYGarland
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) IT'S JUST A SLUMP! At home, not on the road. Sweeping two 4 game sets at Cleveland and Baltimore is not easy no matter how you slice it. This team has just sucked at home for the last 2 months, plain and simple! You can analyze it anyway you want, but it's definitely not good.
