Bates Battaglia's sister is the hottest broad I've ever seen.

I went to H.S. with her.... and she is amazing.

Adam Deadmarsh is a gamer... if he's not totally f***ed up i'd sign him. But he's gotta be ready in October.

Mogilny is kind of an interesting player... he flat out score when he was younger...

Bondra for 1.5 mil would be fun to watch. we shall see.

adam, too much water under the beidge on that one.

mogilny, past his prime and is he still a cherry picker???

bondra is interesting as well as eric lindros. but Jozef Stumpel is the one i would go for.

i don't know. i just tallon got the best for tbo, but i think we got taken.

I think the 'Hawks are just about done. They'll basically start the season with...

Daze - Arny - Ruutu

Calder - Bell - Lapointe/Borque

Barnaby - Brown - Borque/Lapointe

Thorton - Dowd - Holmqvuist (sp?)/Vorobiev/Keith

Cullimore - Aucoin

Mac - Vandy

Spacek - Seabrook/Keith/Babchuk/Barinka

I seem to think I'm forgetting someone on the forward lines...?

I mean, unless someone has a real outstanding camp, like Barker, I think the team is pretty much set. Yawney just has to figure out line combos. I like Borque on the second line, because I've heard that he's got one helluva shot, and that CBB line could use a guy who can shoot. Then, our third line will really be pretty solid -- a real b**** to play against.

The other battle, of course, will be Anderson or Leighton for the backup spot.

TSN has it confirmed

Penguins land Thibault in trade

TSN.ca Staff

8/10/2005 12:42:13 PM

Spurned by Sean Burke on Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Penguins responded by acquiring goaltender Jocelyn Thibault from the Chicago Blackhawks Wednesday in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Burke was considering an offer from the Penguins, but signed instead with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Thibault, 30, is a restricted free agent.

He is also a veteran of 536 NHL games with a record of 227-217-68. He is coming off hip surgery that was to fix a problem that cost him 60 games in the 2003-2004 season.

The trade is the third for Thibault. He was part of the package that the Montreal Canadiens received in the Patrick Roy deal in 1995. In 1999, he was traded to Chicago in a deal that brought Jeff Hackett, Eric Weinrich and Alain Nasreddine to Montreal.

Thibault became expendable earlier in the week when the Blackhawks signed free agent goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin.

You get a decent C or RW for that 2nd line, it just makes this team a whole lot deeper on the offensive end.

Anson Carter's a possibility. Wants to play in Tornto but if they sign Lindros, won't have much cap - room left. Bondra's only got 1 more year left him probably at the most.

I don't think they're looking at the unrestricted free agents. I think they're looking to trade for RFA's.

I'm a little dissappointed at the return for Thibault. Only a fourth? Whatever... It gives us about $2.5 million in cap room, so that's a plus -- I would've been happier, though, with a third.

Well Tallon, I think got himself over a barrel with the TBo deal. When he signed Habby teams knew TBo had to be traded and not to mention his hip from the previous year....so teams weren't going to beat down the Hawks door. Unfortunately that was probably the best deal they could get for him...plus like stated it frees some more cap room to maybe make another deal or possibly 2.

The hawks resign Mark Bell

Also, for those who care, Roman Turek retired.

One of my personal favs is still out there, although I dont think advocate his signing, former Hawk and current nasty boy Bryan Marchment. :D

And nitetrain, Dead Head missed all of the last season with post concussion syndrome, that seems like a bit of a gamble to me.

being fiscal is what i get when i heard of the return we got from tbo. i feel that the hawks did not want to be laden with his contract. however, we could have wait for the right price or go into the season with tbo as backup. you will know that sometime during the esp before the trading deadline, you can get more.

The problem is there are other alternate veteran goalie's out there on the FA market still in Joseph etc.

Most likely a team may not hav even traded for T-Bo at the deadline, better to get something for him now, and use that money to get a good center or RW for the 2nd line.

i have a feeling that some of the veteran goalies are going to have a hard time getting playing time. i think you will see some realize that it is time to hang up the pads. one goalie comes to my mine is maybe osgood. this is my opinion

Osgood's back in Detroit with Manny Legace. He should get good playing time, so I doubt he's gonna retire any time soon.

I dunno. I read some quotes from Yawney that said he would like to put Bell at center with Ruutu and see how that chemistry works in camp. Are they thinking Bell would be first line center?

Hmm... I read in an article where Yawney was basically quoted as saying that he'd be a nut to break up the RAD line, so he wants to keep those guys together for his first unit.

SF1, Calder's the gritty in-the-trenches type of guy. Most of his goals come because he works his ass off in front of the net and gets a lot of tip-ins. Arny, OTOH, has had a reputation of being a little lazy. I'd say he's more talented than Calder, but Calder definitely works a lot harder for his goals than Arny.

Weren't the Hawks up against some sort of arbitration offer type deadline where they could have lost TBo and got nothing in return? It seems to me I've read that somewhere.

Kap, any thoughts on the new tv deal?

Well, seeing as how I work for Comcast, it's sort of interesting that they decided to do this.

Comcast is not one to waste money on things like this, if they didn't think the "partnership" would work, they wouldn't have offered.

I think the NHL knows they suck at marketing (before the lockout) and they know that they have to do better.

Comcast is stepping in and giving the money (which by the way was more then ESPN was going to give them) gives them power on how they will market the tv side of it.

Should be interesting, and I hope they do a good job with their promotions staff to get this thing launched right.

Get him;

The agent for Yanic Perreualt has contacted the Penguins to see if there is any interest in his client.

It remains to be seen if GM Craig Patrick wants to add Perreault to his roster. We suppose at about $1 million per season, Perreault will be a bit of a bargain. Aug. 11 - 6:59 am et
