Brian
Michigan State should of kept their P.O.S. defensive coordinator. Let's just sit back and let em run all over us and pick up a part. Chisoxfn
Michigan is on the verge of a 2 game losing streak now. Cause its just a matter of time till they get drilled by MSU next week. MSU....The best team in the Big 10.
Palehosefan
MSU....The best team in the Big 10. Wisconsin is going to be tough to beat by anyone in the Big Ten, or anyone in the nation for that matter. That OL with Calhoun behind it is something special. UNC ran for something like 40 yards against Wisconsin and yet today against NC State with 4 guys on the DL that will be playing in the NFL, they got over 180 rushing. Calhoun also ripped off 150+ yards on Carolina and Carolina held NC State to 20 yards rushing today, thats with 4 backs that were top 20 coming out of high school all rushing for state. Wisconsin is for real. As for Louisville, am I reading that right? Are they losing to SOUTH FLORIDA 45-14? I keep reading that score, I just can't get it through my head. What? How? Palehosefan
The funny part is that UNC has South Florida scheduled starting next year for a home and home thinking it would be a cupcake game. The same thing happened 5 years ago when UNC schedule Louisville and Utah thinking they would be cupcakes last year and this, what luck huh? I think he (and Michigan) are in some pretty hot water. They still have games left w/Michigan State, Ohio St., Iowa, and Minnesota. It's obvious that OSU is pretty much the class of the Big Ten, but outside of that it's pretty much anyone's guess.

Rex Hudler
Tough game for Michigan tonight. I really think they will be a different team when Hart returns. Calhoun is real good. Wisconsin did a real good job of sealing off the defensive ends and Calhoun had the speed to bounce outside and make things happen. He looked like my backs in NCAA FB 2006 on PS2. Michigan tried different things, but couldn't stop him. They tried blitzing and Wisconsin kept burning them with screen passes, mostly to Calhoun. When they shot the DE's wide, he would run inside. They just couldn't come up with an answer. Give Wisky credit. Everyone knew what they were going to do and no one could stop them.

IlliniKrush
What a story this is... Weis used play called by dying boyBy Tom Coyne The Associated Press SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Charlie Weis doesn't usually let anyone else call plays on offense. He made an exception for 10-year-old Montana Mazurkiewicz. The Notre Dame coach met last week with Montana, who had been told by doctors weeks earlier that there was nothing more they could do to stop the spread of his inoperable brain tumor. "He was a big Notre Dame fan in general, but football especially,'' said his mother, Cathy Mazurkiewicz. Weis showed up at the Mazurkiewicz home in Mishawaka, just east of South Bend, and talked with Montana about his tumor and about Weis' 10-year-old daughter, Hannah, who has global development delay, a rare disorder similar to autism. He told Montana about some pranks he played on Joe Montana — whom Montana was named after — while they were roommates at Notre Dame. "I gave him a chance to hammer me on the Michigan State loss, which he did very well. He reminded me of my son,'' said Weis, whose son, Charlie Jr., is 12 years old. Weis said the meeting was touching. "He told me about his love for Notre Dame football and how he just wanted to make it through this game this week,'' Weis said. "He just wanted to be able to live through this game because he knew he wasn't going to live very much longer.'' As Weis talked to the boy, Cathy Mazurkiewicz rubbed her son's shoulder trying to ease his pain. Weis said he could tell the boy was trying not to show he was in pain. His mother told Montana, who had just become paralyzed from the waist down a day earlier because of the tumor, to toss her a football Weis had given him. Montana tried to throw the football, put could barely lift it. So Weis climbed into the reclining chair with him and helped him complete the pass to his mother. Before leaving, Weis signed the football. "He wrote, 'Live for today for tomorrow is always another day,''' Mazurkiewicz said. "He told him: 'You can't worry about tomorrow. Just live today for everything it has and everything you can appreciate,'' she said. "He said: 'If you're (in pain) today you might not necessarily be in pain tomorrow, or it might be worse. But there's always another day.'' Weis asked Montana if there was something he could do for him. He agreed to let Montana call the first play against Washington on Saturday. He called "pass right.'' Montana never got to see the play. He died Friday at his home. Weis heard about the death and called Mazurkiewicz on Friday night to assure her he would still call Montana's play. "He said, 'This game is for Montana, and the play still stands,''' she said. Weis said he told the team about the visit. He said it wasn't a "Win one for the Gipper'' speech, because he doesn't believe in using individuals as inspiration. He just wanted the team to know people like Montana are out there. "That they represent a lot of people that they don't even realize they're representing,'' Weis said. When the Irish started on their own 1-yard-line following a fumble recovery, Mazurkiewicz wasn't sure Notre Dame would be able to throw a pass. Weis was concerned about that, too. So was quarterback Brady Quinn. "He said what are we going to do?'' Weis said. "I said we have no choice. We're throwing it to the right.'' Weis called a play where most of the Irish went left, Quinn ran right and looked for tight end Anthony Fasano on the right. Mazurkiewicz watched with her family. "I just closed my eyes. I thought, 'There's no way he's going to be able to make that pass. Not from where they're at. He's going to get sacked and Washington's going to get two points,''' she said. Fasano caught the pass and leapt over a defender for a 13-yard gain. "It's almost like Montana was willing him to beat that defender and take it to the house,'' Weis said. Mazurkiewicz was happy. "It was an amazing play. Montana would have been very pleased. I was very pleased,'' she said. "I was just so overwhelmed. I couldn't watch much more.'' Weis called her again after the game, a 36-17 victory by the 13th-ranked Fighting Irish, and said he had a game ball signed by the team that he wanted to bring to the family on Sunday. "He's a very neat man. Very compassionate,'' she said. "I just thanked him for using that play, no matter the circumstances.''

White Sox Josh
The thing that bothers me is getting beat by that boob John Stocko. He is not a good QB. I guess it's pretty easy to win games when all you do is hand it off to your running back.
Soxbadger
It depends on your definition of a good QB is. My definition is a QB that wins games. A QB that does not put his team in a position to lose game, and a Qb that makes sure his team stays the course. The reason Michigan lost is simple, Wisconsin played their game. Michigan never forced Wisconsin to do things that they are uncomfortable doing. They never forced Wisconsin to try and throw deep, they never forced Wisconsin to throw over the middle. As it is right now, Wisconsin has a very good chance at winning the Big 10. They were underrated as always, but that is just because Wisconsin are not media darlings yet. Michigan was vastly over rated. I have to attribute some of this to Hart, but their passing game was just not what it should of been against an undertalented Wisconsin secondary. Henne should have blown them up, instead he did not even eclipse 300 yards. It was a good game, but it was clearly the game that Wisconsin not Michigan wanted to play. The loss should rest solely on Carr's shoulders, as anyone that has seen 1 Wisconsin game could have shut that team down. Luckily I dont play for the other side though. Gene Honda Civic
Sour Grapes, thy name is Illini. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ci...adel&type=story Iowa is due for a fall this season. The Hawkeyes have had a remarkable last few years, not only utilizing excellent players but also consistent good fortune to become one of the nation's ranked teams. Even nationally elite teams have trouble maintaining more than three straight 10 win seasons. Iowa will likely find it improbable as well. Iowa fans will quickly discount the importance of luck in their recent successes, but how else can you explain being able to free a fifth string walk-on running back for good gains throughout this past season after losing their top four players to injury? What but good fortune could help a team field a new quarterback each of three consecutive years and still win frequently? And what other than fate could possibly have given them that miraculous last second victory last January against LSU in the Capitol One Bowl? That surprising result was a peak experience for Iowa, and a down cycle from there is inevitable. Good gains from a 5th string RB? -- He averaged 2.4 yards per carry on the season, and finished with something like 250 yards on the season. New quarterback? -- Brad Banks was the #1 JuCo QB recruit in 2000. He sat on the bench in '01 learned the system (Protect the ball, make mistakes with your feet not your arm) and in 2002 was ready to become the big 10's best QB. Ken O'Keefe opened up the playbook to include option and lots of designed QB runs. He tailored the offense to his talent. -- Nathan Chandler was the #1 JuCo QB recruit in 2001. He lead the nation in passing. He sat on the bench in '02 learned the system (Protect the ball, make mistakes with your feet not your arm) and in 2003 was ready to be a servicable Big 10 QB. Thanks to a great offensive line he was rarely pressured and had one of the nations top running games. Ken O'Keefe trimmed the playbook to mostly a running, play action passing, and short pass game. He never gave too much for Chandler to handle. He tailored the offense to his talent. -- Drew Tate was a top 15 QB prospect in 2002. He set the national records for passing in HS. He sat on the bench in 2003, learned the system (Protect the ball, make mistakes with your feet, not your arm) and was Iowa's best option at QB for 2004. He struggled early as RB after RB was sidelined for the season, but as the season progressed the Iowa offensive coordinator Ken O'Keefe learned what the kid could do, and built an offense that played to his stregths. He tailored the offense to his talent. -- This all sounds like 1) good recruiting and 2) great coaching. -- I know the latter has severely lacking in Champaign since well forever. Miraculous last second victory in the Cap One Bowl. -- Iowa trailed for 45 seconds..... THE ENTIRE GAME!
