Good news for you Illini fans. Isiah Williams "refreshed" his commitment to the Illini after flirting with UNC for a while.

"I'm solid now," Williams said. "I'm 100%, no, 200% committed to Illinois. I needed some answers to some academic questions I had and they were all answered to my satisfaction.

"As far as next year is concerned. The coaches told me that I'll get an equal oppurtunity to compete the starting quarterback job and that's all I can ask for.

"My commitment is solid and I'm not going to visit Iowa this coming weekend."

Williams passed for 1,841 touchdowns and 22 touchdowns. He rushed for 1,241 yards.

Williams is the key piece of the puzzle for Ron Zook. With Williams now in place, the rest of the puzzle will begin to fall in place for the Fighting Illini.

Report: Leinart reinstated by NCAA

/ FOXSports.com

Posted: 3 hours ago

USC quarterback Matt Leinart was declared ineligible earlier this month, only to have his eligibility reinstated on Tuesday, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

USC quietly declared Leinart ineligible earlier this month after the quarterback appeared in a promotional segment for ESPN — a violation of NCAA rules. After ESPN aired the piece, which was filmed after the Trojans' victory over UCLA, USC reported the violation and immediately petitioned the NCAA to reinstate Leinart.

"Whenever we are aware that media outlets ask student-athletes to do these kinds of tags we immediately cut them off," said Tim Tessalone, USC's sports information director. "Unfortunately, this one slipped by."

Leinart's actions were seen as "unintentional and inadvertent" according to the NCAA's Kent Barrett.

"This was the type of thing where it was obvious the student-athlete was not attempting to become an endorser of a network," Barrett said.

The situation came to light when USC's sports information staff turned down interveiw requests for the 2004 Heisman Trophy winner. Tessalone said Leinart had been barred from participating in media activities until after Christmas.

Leinart had been practicing with the team in preparation for the Jan. 4 Rose Bowl, but Barrett said that athletes can practice and take part in team and school activities while petitions are being considered by the NCAA's reinstatement staff.

Wow, great Alamo Bowl. Michigan loses at the end and it almost looked like Michigan was going to come up with a miracle of a play to win the game. 3/4ths of Nebraska stopped thinking the game was over and Michigan kept lattering and moving the ball and finally broke things open and both teams had most of there benches on the field as they were doing it.

Lucky for Nebraska two guys at the back of the play continued to play it out and made the tackle. Had they not done that, it would have been something talked about for years and years to come.

That game sucked!

1. It may have been the worst officiated game I have ever seen, from the officials on field to the replay officials. A team should not have to take two timeouts just to give the officials time to decide to review a critical play. The officiating was so bad it would take way too much time to itemize all of their f***ups. UGH

2. Tonight's showing by Michigan was representative of their whole season. Terrible officiating aside, Michigan should have won this game going away. They had chances to put Nebraska away in the first half and again in the second half when they were ahead 28-17. Michigan has no one to blame but themselves for losing this game, so please do not misconstrue my above rant on the officials as making excuses for the loss.

The final play was certainly entertaining, but just as many Michigan players gave up on the play as did Cornhuskers.

Overall, the game was hard-hitting and entertaining, but it was sickening to see Michigan blow so many opportunities to put this game away. Then again, they have been doing the same all year, as recently as the Ohio St game.

First off that TE for Michigan was a moron because he should have given the ball to Breaston.

The officiating in that game was absolutely terrible. Quite possibly the worst officiating in any sporting event ever in which there was not outright cheating. Twice Michigan has to burn timeouts because the replay officials are inept. A terrible missed pass interference call on the goal line. And then apparently Nebraska is allowed to have 85 guys play defense. How there wasn't a flag on that last play is beyond me. Everyone of those officials deserves to lose their jobs over that game.

So where are all the Michigan fans now...?

As far as the officiating goes...yeah it was terrible. But i don't see how a penalty could have been called on the last play, as both teams had guys on the field.

I still don't understand why that guy didn't lateral to Breaston...he could have made one cut to the middle of the field and scored easily had he had the ball.
