fathom
QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) I think we will make it, but we wont go far thats for damn sure. I think we'll make it also, but we're going to make things a lot tougher than they should be if our offense stays like this.
kev211
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) We play like this, in terms of hitting, the rest of the year....and there will be no playoffs. If we go 500 the rest of the year the indians would have to go 37-15 to catch us. Trust me we are in the playoffs the indians arnt goign to stay this hot and were not going to stay this cold. Trust me we are in the playoffs the indians arnt goign to stay this hot and were not going to stay this cold. There's no guarantees in sports. There's no rule that says a team has to go .500, even if they play bad.
Soxpranos
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) I think we'll make it also, but we're going to make things a lot tougher than they should be if our offense stays like this. thats for sure, our pitchers will make mistakes trying to pitch perfect games knowing our offense wont come thru. Hopefully we can hit from here on.
fathom
12 in a row for Moyer now? Buehrle's going to have to make these 3 runs be enough.

fathom
Again, I'm not being negative about our chances the rest of this season. I just go by the philosophy that anything can happen in sports. What's stopping a team from winning the rest of their games, or losing the rest of their games? You can throw as many statistics as you want at myself or someone else....but the game is played on the field, not in the papers.

One of the reasons it was nice to see KC not make any trades was so they can stay tough.

Hence why the Sox have been so good this season, and why if they slacked off, Ozzie would chew their asses out. Nobody predicited the Sox to be this good, not even the most optimistic Sox fan. kev211
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Actually the Tribe would have to go 39-13. They have played 2 more game than us. they have 52 games left if we go 500 the rest of the year we go 27-27 minus 27 from 41 our magic number and you get 16 that means then the indians can only affrod 16 loses before there out so to get in they would have to go 37-15 to tie 36-

That's not the situation that concerns some of us. It's playing .350 ball the rest of the way which is the only scenario that could see the Sox out of the playoffs.
