What's up with our teams?

Hey my fellow chicago sports' fans, is chicago being curse that all of our sports team wont amount to anything. I came from the Philippines 5 years ago and ever since I have loved the SOX, BEARS and the BULLS. Its a good thing I was here for a couple of championships when the BULLS' dynasty was still intact.

Well this year, we had such high hopes for our SOX to go to the playoffs at least. But what do they do, they stop playing baseball and took on the identity of relying on the second half to make a run. But baseball is played the whole season so next thing we know we were down by 13 games and ran out of games to catch the twins.

Now, what we thought was the savior of our missery this year turns out to be a heart breaker also. I remember seeing posters at SOX games saying "Thank GOD for the Bears" And again, we have spoken too soon. Our bears just loss a game against the freakin lions. The way the Bears are playing, we are not going near the playoffs. The Packs, i hate to say it, are playing mad hungry for success. The Bears on the other hand are being smack down straight up. The lions showed more passion than the Bears today. Our offense is predictable, the defense was once the best now the worst.

We need a champion team here in Chicago badly. Hopefully the SOX breaks the cycle soon!!!!

You've only been at it for five years. I've been a Sox fan since 1957 (age six), the Bears 1958, the Hawks 1959, and the Bulls since they came into the league. You take out the 90's Bulls and it is truly lean times. It's just tough being a Chicago sports fan. It's one of the world's great cities with better fans than most towns. Unfortunately Chicago sports teams have a history of being run by stubborn short sighted owners in every sport. The Bears collapse was forseeable and I said so, got smacked down on some boards so I shut up. It's a messy situation because I don't think Angelo really wanted to keep Jauron but felt he had to because of last year. They've lost too much on defense and they are greatly handicapped at the QB position. Anyway, hang in there and be prepared for lots of character building if you are going to root for Chicago teams. Thanks for having the good sense to pick the Sox in baseball, we have a much better class of baseball fan. Maybe younger newer fans like you can in someway provide the spark of energy to get things off dead center.

INCLUDING the Sox and Bears, Chicago sports sucks! The Sox have been pulling this "half-season" s*** for at least the past three years, and the Bears flashed a fluke last season.

The Wolves are the ONLY consistent winner in this area, and they're not even in Chicago! Freakin' Rosemont...sheesh...

I think the Bulls will be good real soon again. And the Bears have complete idiots for mgt. I dont think they're going anywhere anytime soon unless they have a Cinderella season like last year. :(

The Bulls are going to try real hard, but I don't really expect much from them this year. Still too young, too much learning to do.

It's kinda funny how quick everyone's jumping off the Bears bandwagon - not even Urlacher is left out of the s***-talking. The guy has practically his first bad game since he was drafted, and every yahoo on the radio is saying that "the league has figured him out". Gimme a break - let at least TWO teams run on him before you say he's done, OK?

The Bulls will be a fun team to watch this year, but they are still one to two years away.

The Bears, ya they got a slim shot, but they are still young and have a lot of very talented players. Ya, management and coaching has its flaws, but I'd look for some big moves during the off-season as well as a new quarterback drafted and they will be playing hard and will have a great season when they are back at Soldier Field.

As far as the Sox go, we under-achieved, but we are still in very good position. If we had an owner that would spend some money on a starter or two, ala Maddux or Glavine and nothing less, then we'd be World Series contenders and a definate playoff team. We probably will settle for less, but we still have a lot of talent here and everyone is young. We still have our best pitching prospects Kris Honel and Jon Rauch waiting in the wings which is good. I don't think they will be flukes like some of our other prospects were.

True, but the Sox and the Bears are the only two Chicago sports teams I care about, so that's why I mention them.

Wanna know why Urlacher is having a hard time? Because he's not Dick Butkus and No one ever talks about how much the tackes in front of a linebacker make a good LB. Washington is out. that's a big factor.

Thats very true, but I think Urlacher has to do more than he's doing. I mean every play it looks like he's on his ass looking up at the cieling.

420's right. Urlie isn't as good yet. Urlacher has the ability to be just as good, with a better personality and no convictions, but it will take time.

Having Washington out hurts Urlacher this season and it hurts the bears but it will help Urlie in the long run cause it forces him to really work on shedding blocks and such and will make him such a better player next season.
