jphat007
Don't think that would have tied it. He COULD have hit a HR, but you just never know. Schill might have pitched differently with a 1 run lead. DOn't worry ursleves thinking like that.
Brian
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) Would you have pulled Cotts? Probably not, but weren't you a guy a few minutes ago praising Francona for playing match ups? That's what Ozzie was doing. Ozzie didn't walk Renteria to get to Ortiz. fathom
QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) I'm not looking too much into that. The TV gun is wrong sometimes, registering a few MPH slow. It's not just tonight. He seemingly goes back and forth with his velocity each game. Of course, he still has a great fastball even if he's not at his peak. However, those 3mph can make the difference between jamming a hitter or allowing the hitter to drop the bat head on the ball.
Dick Allen
QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) I'm not looking too much into that. The TV gun is wrong sometimes, registering a few MPH slow. I know what you're saying, but when he went a couple innings in KC he was 97-99 in inning 1 and 92-94 in inning 2, and that was the same gun. White Sox Josh
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) Greg Maddux doesn't throw it that hard yet he is a much better pitcher than a lot of pitchers who throw it 99 MPH. Eddie Guardado is an awesome closer. He is much better than Jorge Julio who throws it 100 MPH. Thanks Bobby because we would be leading now. But pitchers are different in that situation. Gooch couldve killed the ball on another pitch right at someone.
