Oh he's had more unerned runs over that stretch than Garland has ever allowed in a full season, but we all know how much flack Jon took over the years for not being able to pitch over mistakes. It's time to call out Buehrle's sorry ass for the same thing.

Don't say that. I was getting flamed for suggesting such. He's no ace if he can't pitch in big games and get over pressure situations. Garland has passed up Buehrle and is the real ace. He doesn't choke in big games or big situations. Treats all teams the same. Buehrle can't do that. He's simply become the Jeff Baj of the major league team - overrated!

Buehrle is what, 2 year older? How many more star calibre seasons has he put together? What an asinine thing to even be discussing. "WHO'S OUR ACE"

He's hit his ceiling quicker. As far as ace pitcher he is not that. He just has been our best pitcher but remember, we really haven't had that many good pitchers around here. Garland didn't develop until this year. Bartolo and Wells had their worst seasons here. People's eyes have been blinded by that. He's a nice pitcher, but he's not an ace. Learn to be able to pitch in pressure situations and against playoff type clubs, and then he'll be an ace. Until that, he's just feeding off of bad hitting clubs in the Central.

Here's some notes from the game....

Ortiz has 100 homers for Boston, the 27th player in club history to reach that total. ... Johnny Damon extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in the sixth, his third streak of at least 15 games this season. .. Everett's 3 RBIs gave him 37 in his last 43 games. ... Wells issued no walks for his fourth straight game, a span of 26 innings. He's walked 12 batters in 130 innings and none in 11 of his 21 starts. ... Buehrle allowed more than five runs for the third time in 24 starts this year. ... Boston is 18-20 in series openers.

Oh yeah, Mark Buehrle has allowed the Red Sox 22 hits and nine earned runs over 13-plus innings this year.

AP:

Ortiz hit a 2-2 pitch into the left-field seats when he went for the same inside pitch Buehrle had thrown to him several times.

``I finally went, OK, I've got to give up on my pitch and try to look for his pitch,'' Ortiz said. ``That was the only reason why I hit it.''

***

Buehrle might be able to shake off signs but its AJ calling for that same spot that Ortiz had seen "several times."
