juddling
yeah....my wife and i were just lamenting over this decision since we have been getting into "Battlestar Galactica" and Stargate. Before we moved this summer...they pulled Sci-Fi off our cable in place of the Oxygen network. (Gee...thanks for the chance to watch uber-dyke Ellen DeGeneres and reruns of Oprah!!!!!!) After our move..we were so excited to get Sci-Fi back.( What exciting lives we lead!! lol) and after a month..they announce they are moving it to a higher priced package AGAIN!!!!!!!!! f*** You Comcast! (and your s***ty internet hookup sucks too). :finger :finger :finger

SleepyWhiteSox
I miss the good ol' days when the black cable box (descrambler?) and filters would steal all of the premium channels, along with pay-per-view. .. Now the box is worthless. Another pet peeve is watching a very late-night comedy show on comedy central and the channel cutting to courttv right in the middle of a joke. Aren't we getting the golf channel now??? :puke Why not something a bit more interesting like Turner Classic Movies or BBC America? No offense to golf fans, but something with a broader audience would have been nicer...

I want my free ppv's and premium's back!!! Honestly though, Comcast's lineup sucks. I just lost the tv guide channel last night. I learned I really didn't lose it, but it's all the way on channel 98 or something along those lines. Pain in the butt to press buttons you're not use to. JUGGERNAUT
If you are the proud owner of a "cheater" box your cheating days are coming to an end. Thank Motorola for that. What Motorola did was develop a box that can support digital, uncompressed analog, & compressed analog channels. Comcast waited for SCI-FI fans to switch to digital before lowering the boom: compressing the analog channels of the expanded basic lineup. After that all analog equipment including cable ready TV's treat those channels as if they aren't even there. But that wonderful Motorola box de-compresses them & makes them viewable for the Comcast slave. Now if you are waiting on a digital "cheater" box forget it. It's not happening. Think SSL when you think of digital cable. We're talking encryption. Tough as nails to hack. Someone might be able to develop a box that will decompress the analog signal but will the market be there for expanded basic channels that have a short-life to begin with? Probably not. There are plenty of hacks available though for dish systems but I'm sure Motorola will have a hand in that as well. Cheater TV is coming to an end. They have been hacked, but you need to buy some stuff from a computer store and basically need to have your box opened and connected to your computer. Even at that, it's not full proof. Flash Tizzle
QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) This thread is just to thank Comcrap for discontinuing the best channel on their basic cable package and making my f***ing week. At least I'm done working for the summer. Perhaps the free package shown on SHOWTIME/FLIX can lighten up your mood. Great lineup of late night (key phrase) movies they've been showing the last week. If nothing is on maybe I'll tune into the Sci-Fi channel and catch "Children of the Night" on my premium package.

Milkman delivers
I only watch Sci-fi when they have marathons of cheesy, made-for-TV movies that attempt to be scary, but just make you laugh at how cheap it is and the occassional actor that you can recognize shows up. I have WOW cabe internet but the cable tv blew so we got DirecTV in all the rooms. We went to wow from comcast. We've had it a year now (TV and internet). We have yet to lose service and no rate increases. When we had comcast, it went out weekly and the raised it what seemed about once a month. kapkomet
What's wrong with Comcast again? /runs and tells everyone at work Seriously, although I'm not in the Chicago market, that is the single biggest complaint there is from what I've seen here - when the local systems change their channel lineups. People HATE change. You can upgrade for not that much more then you're paying now, in all likelyhood. If you're unhappy, complain to the right people. It might or might not make a difference, but it sure doesn't hurt to try.
