I am sorry did any of the guys you mentioned make it? How many of them will make it? how many will play for this team? Last year did you think Diaz was going to be a major league pitcher for somebody and have a career in the majors? You see I didn't.

Felix Diaz got tossed around by this organization. He pitched on three days rest one day, and ten days rest the next. Then they'd stick him in the bullpen, and have him start again.

And he's no where near the pitcher McCarthy has, nor has he had any of the success in the minor leagues that McCarthy has had. Diaz will probably be a swingman type for his career, if he can regain the control that he had last year.

BTW -- McCarthy's line tonight (in a rain shortened game):  7 IP, 7 Ks, 3 Hs, 0 R, 0 BBs.

His ERA is down to 4.18.

Quick saying that he's just gonna be a #4-#5 is one of the dumbest things I've read on this site in a while.

why is that, has he proven anything different? lets wait and see until you call me dumb. He has proven nothing to me except possible trade bait.

I've been on his case for a while. It probably explains his worthlessness the last month .

This makes it even more integral that we find another OF/DH. We can't go with Timo and Ozuna in LF for two weeks.

Yeah -- you saw him for Spring Training, and you saw him for the five-six starts he made up here, and you're making a judgement off of him.

I'll go with the larger sample size.

Just like you did, BTW, with Bajenaru. I'm sure you're feelings on Chad Bradford was that he was a career minor leaguer too, huh?

Rauch got injured, and never struck out over nine per nine IP at a level above AA.  He also never had the control that McCarthy had.

BTW, Fathom, McCarthy must be doing something right to have struck out almost 120 in about 105 IP...

That's because he got hurt when he went to AAA. He pitched 28 innings and had 27k in 2001 at Charlotte injured. His totals at A and AA were impressive, and there is no guarantee McCarthy doesn't get hurt. McCarthy is a good prospect, but at this point that is all he is.

Dammnit, give me Timo, a big deal was made when Uribe didn't run out one of his atbats on a routine game in a blow out, I want Ozuna's ass benched for his weak efffort in the field

This game is over. I am really diappointed about our performance so far in Boston. I was really hoping we could take at least 2 out of 3, and make a statement. So much for that. :(

"And in this cornah ... weighing in at 150 pound soaking wet ... from the south suburbs of Chicago ...  Keith ... Killer Keith!"

"And his opponent ... in the far corner ... wearing plaid shorts, striped shirt, and sandals with white socks ... The Narc of Negativity ... The Dean of Doom ... The High Priest of Hostile ... QUICKMAN !!"

there is jim right in the middle with no opinion as usual.

It's not just the K's. McCarthy has also had much better control than Rauch's minor league career, too.

Agreed, he can get injured at any time. I'd hope not, however -- he doesn't throw in the high-90s, he doesn't (or not that I've heard of) throw a slider, and his deliverly looks good, too.

The thing McCarthy has to fix is his HR/9. But I can deal with that, so long as it's the Brad Radke 'only solo shots 'cause you got such damn good control'. He'll probably learn a new pitch in Spring Training.
